I was Type 1 all along

I have. Though a lot of the time I forget. However, this morning is good. I made the lunches for us last night and scoffed a small amount of ham whilst doing so. Last night before bed my bs was 5.6 and this morning it is 5.2. woo

Hi James, if you are still suffering symptoms then definitely get to the docs. Measure your bs regularly, and if they are constantly high then you probably need more insulin. Get your basal dose right and the bolus will sort itself out for good times. The background dude is the one you need to...

Thanks for the share @Bon83. Bloody sucks eh. But really glad to hear you're doing much better. Hey @azure, even though my meds and my routine haven't changed knowing for sure is actually liberating. I'll be in the type 1 forum from now on [emoji6]

p.s. again: I seriously think everyone should read the following books. The clarity you will have surrounding the food we eat, the lies we've been told (resulting in the rise of diabetes and obesity), and how to help ourselves is astounding. Good Calories, Bad Calories - Gary Taubes (a...

I was Type 1 all along

I personally think that no diabetic should take carbs. The reason a diabetic needs to take insulin is due to a rise in blood sugar. The rise in bs comes primarily from carbs, and to a small degree excess protein. Why we diabetics are encouraged to eat the very thing that makes us sick, and thus...

No, came on out of the blue. There was no reason to suspect it was going to happen.

Oh yes, @noblehead. I'm getting in about 5 years. We're going to move to the country and I'm building a Japanese dojo building, to do my yoga and fitness. And building a Japanese garden to surround it. A full life ahead! [emoji2]

I was Type 1 all along

Hey everyone. I guess from a doctor's point of view they only know what they were taught, and the likely/common occurrence in older folk is type 2. It's interesting many of us have had similar experiences. @ickihun the c-pep test can be done with your usual hba1c test. It just needs to be added...

Diagnosed with Type 1 AND NOW ALSO Coeliac Disease!

Just to add, I've just finished Keto Clarity by Jimmy Moore and Dr Eric Westman. One of the topics is about how being in Ketosis can reverse or aid various metabolic syndrome diseases. One chapter talked about this and various studies (I googled "low carb coeliac") have shown that a low carb...

I was Type 1 all along

Hi everyone, been away for a while due to getting fixed up after a recurring spinal injury came back to haunt me! :oldman: Many on the forums said I should ask for my records to see what my numbers and diabetic history shows When I joined the forums I said I went from a Type 2 to a Type 1...

    Confused and concerned

@Chook 20 months! Wow, impressive patience. I know low carbing is essentially a lifestyle change, though that is a long time to get the results. I guess being on insulin is tougher to come off than tablets. @Resurgam you must eat very few veggies too, to keep at 4gm of carbs. It must be a very...

    Dawn Phenomenon

Could it be that you eat different foods when away? I'd imagine the diet in Sicily is somewhat different than what you would have at home. Could you replicate what you eat when away as a comparison?

    Confused and concerned

Thank you so much, @Chook. This is a great story and incredibly helpful. It's a waiting game. Patience is the key. I'll certainly be low carbing forever.

    Confused and concerned

Indeed. I have to bolus in the morning. Even if my BS is around 5 in the morning, 1 hour later it can be to 12 or so. I bolus to try and bring that down. I have tried ignoring the rise in the hope it will go down by itself, but I will simply rise to 18 or more. A bit like you really. How is...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Ran out of test strips at the beginning of the week (more on order). Been going off 'feels'. Not changed my diet though, and slept ok the last 2 nights. I also think I'm starting to lose weight (even though I've been in ketosis for over 2 months). I hate Insulin.

3.2 and the worse nights sleep. Went to bed on 18, with a compensation dose and maddening fidget feet. Jeez. And now they are cramping this morning. Fun Monday.
