    Condensation

What pump are you on? Def change the site as you don't want it to affect your BG and also if you let it get too sore it won't heal so quickly for reuse in that site.

Stupid Pump Tricks Number One and Number Two

@Hooked what is this spibelt and where can I buy one from? Is it something you can hide under clothes?

Shower or antiseptic wipe before insertion?

@JACKTHELAD I use the sides of my tummy all the way round to my hips and then the area between my ribs and waistline so not so easy as an arm just to wash. Not impossible though! @novorapidboi26 have you ever had any infections at site? I'm wondering if my DSN was being OTT but she did scare...

Shower or antiseptic wipe before insertion?

Hello When I started the pump we were told we had to shower just before a cannula change, dry thoroughly and then insert. We were told this was because it prevents infection and also makes insertion less painful. We were also told not to use wipes because any alcohol dries the skin out and...

    Pump consumables

I gave some opened boxes of cannulas and faulty reservoirs to my DSN for people learning the pump. The clinic doesn't get many from the pump companies so at least they could use mine to practice drawing up insulin or see what other cannulas look like etc

    What do I ask?

Yes especially if you are having hypo unawareness as this is very dangerous so a pump would be worthwhile.

    Sick Leave or Not Bother...?

My clinic advised me to take a week off work and we weren't allowed to drive a car for the first few days either. I'm glad of this advice as my BG was horrendous whilst we got the basal right.

    "Pumping insulin" book

The book is excellent and very straightforward. I borrowed it from a friend and was so impressed I bought it myself.

    Pump use in labour

I don't personally have experience but a friend does. She has given birth twice and stayed on insulin pump through the labour. The hospital are very anti this and try and make you change to drip but after doing research she refused and stayed on pump. She trained her husband so he could test and...

    Pump consumables

ROFL @CarbsRok and the comment about thick delivery drivers!! This sums up so many of my deliveries (admittedly not just Animas) and I thought it was just me!

    Pump consumables

Hello. I'm on Animas Vibe and although the NHS fund all my supplies I order them by phoning Animas directly. Animas are great at sending out everything you need and quickly too.

1 week to choose - Omnipod or Vibe?!?

I have decided to stick with the vibe as there isn't time to do a proper trial with the omnipod. Also I am seriously considering CGM. Thank you everyone for your help in deciding though :)

1 week to choose - Omnipod or Vibe?!?

@Spiker I was supposed to be able to trial a pod but that was with the DSN who kept cancelling the appointments. Now I probably can't get to see her this week so a trial won't happen. @CarbsRok that's a very good point about the cannula type that I hadn't considered! I've never tried an angled...

1 week to choose - Omnipod or Vibe?!?

So my current pump Animas Vibe is about to finish it's warranty and my clinic asked me to choose a new pump. Due to the three appointments I had to view pumps being cancelled by DSN I now have only one week to choose. I'm pretty annoyed about this!! Anyway I did still get to have my diabetes...

    New to pump

I also have needle phobia and that was the main basis for choosing the Animas pump. I was petrified of the infusion sets generally but my DSN took special time to help me choose an infusion set I was comfy with. The Animas Insets are very easy to insert and if I can manage them anyone can. I...

    Travelling to Canada in January

I'm on the vibe and have flown to Russia which is 3.5 hours difference. I changed my basal when we landed and also you may find you need an extra bolus during flight as flying can make sugars run higher. The changing basal worked fine with a tiny correction tweak and I did the same thing flying...

Tape to stick loose infusion set?

Annoyingly have a dodgy infusion set peeling slightly to one side. As it was gradually getting worse I stuck some Mefix tape on top to keep it down til my set change tomorrow. This doesn't seem to be very sticky and is already peeling away. What's the best tape for when this happens please...

    test strips

Explain to your gp that you have to test 4-6 times a day minimum as part of the criteria for keeping your insulin pump. I test anything from 4-10 times a day easily. Basal testing I test every hour!
