Swiss Re - walking the walk

I had occasion to give a presentation in the Swiss Re Centre in Zurich yesterday. It was followed by a buffet. The buffet was a low carb person's delight. Every single main course item had been perfectly presented for a low carb, person. No bread in sight anywhere, one tiny pasta choice...

    Result - Fasting Insulin

Yes that fasting insulin is perfect at 3.1 - that coupled with great blood sugar figures suggests to me that whatever you are doing is totally optimal for your health and as such I wouldn't worry too much about the odd few points in Hba1C, all of the indicators simply suggest "keep calm and...

I've tried this with various different layers rolled out leeks, sliced courgettes, aubergines , I'm also looking into konjac pasta, Not ussed about trying oats, the veggie versions are good enough for me - but whatever floats your boat if it works!

    Psyllium for T2 diabetes

Other studies I heev read suggest that psyllium is not that useful being mainly soluble fibre, whereas the stuff you really want is full of insoluble fibre that forms the lattice work which the soluble elements can hang off to slow absoprtion. celery is a good example. the article itself is...

All women with the "hunter" gene get gestational diabetes.

You are correct that there is another autoimmune disease which it might be worth exploring. It is called Type B insulin resistance - which is a rare autoimmune disorder which is characterised by extreme insulin resistance and extreme vitamin D deficiency . It appears remission - i.e...

Type 2 How can I lower my BG levels?

Hi Heidi, You have not mentioned any timescales in this post, it takes a while for things to come back into balance, so you may find if you just stick with a low carb diet, add in some testing to find out what spikes you so you can stop eating those, then things will improve over time...

T2D Since 2000-HbA1c Sept 5.9% Off all Meds since July!

Congratulations, a great story. My opinion is that for the vast majority of people with T2, IF they are still producing insulin and still have hyperinsulinaemia ( too high insulin levels) then it may be possible to get off all medications including insulin no matter how long they have been...

Dare I mention the word carb??????

"Live Life Lustily" is my motto. In practise that means - try to do whats the right thing for me, but do it in a way that makes me happy - so now and again I go off the rails and I don't worry about it instead I try to find some activity that will help me offset things. Last night I...

My personal hypothesis - T2 - Low insulin Diet

Thank you for the info. My own BP has definitely improved with one meal per day. The palpitations have also gone, my morning blood glucose is a bit higher too, but no real spikes from the main meal. It is also definitely easier to simply ignore food until the one meal that day. Its...
