    A Changed Life

I must admit I look at your signature with its massive weight loss and I wonder " how " ? After months of trying to diet on LCHF and still getting nowhere after my initial loss ( 115> 90) I decided to stop focusing on weight loss and instead focus on eating as much as possible but still LCHF...

    A Changed Life

Any" seed" oil is one made from the seed not the fruit. I think they are all probably close to toxic to humans and that will include both of the above. I think that's largely due to very high Omega 6 content. Personally I would no longer eat either or Soy . Having said that something...

HELP! I am New to all of This

The one additional thing I would suggest is that for me personally my breakthrough in health came from the understanding that I need to avoid seed oils at all costs .That automatically switched my diet from any thing packaged to natural foods. Both Slimming World and Weight Watchers do not get...

    A Changed Life

I've been a little quiet on the forum recently. The reason is because three weeks ago I embarked on a backpacking holiday in Japan with my nephew. He adopted LCHF despite already being young, slim and fit, after reading up on the science I showed him. The result for him has been boundless...

Type 2 Anyone on this forum that has reversed/controlled their diabetes without going very low carb?

1 wear a libre freestyle so I can see what it does to me 24 / 7. i definitely run higher with nore carbs but my hba1c is still around 5 3% . The trick for me us - eat the rice towards the end if the meal and make sure big gaps eg only once per day to allow. bloood sugars to get into the 4,s...

Type 2 Anyone on this forum that has reversed/controlled their diabetes without going very low carb?

I love rice too. If you commit to LCHF properly to get started you may find as I have done that once you have normalised your blood sugars you can eat the occasional meal with rice. Im on holiday in Japan at present. I can now eat a bowl of rice with my main meal and still stay within non...

3 month review with diabetes nurse

If you have low iron , have you also got low hdl and low vitamin D ? All of these commonly go together . From personal experience eating red meat and butter improved them all nicely !

Patient's Choice Award: Low-Carb Nurse Advocate Nominated!

I have voted too. She sounds like a great nurse. I hope if ( when ) she wins she can be a great ambassador in getting the word out

    Worried about husband

is he into bacon and eggs? If so then putting him on a bacon and egg diet for a few days - ( add some mushrooms and tomatoes and just tell him the bread ran out - should start to bring down his blood sugars nicely !

Freestyle Libre reader vs Glimp app

I just tried glimp - it gave what looked like promising readings for about an hour, failed to respond to my morning liver dump, then stopped doing anything . I am still in the last two days of the libre. The libre has continued working but the glimp is a total bust at present.! no clue if im...

    WHY?!!

For your road trip, make sure you stock up on low carb snacks - ( nuts avocadoes, boiled eggs), choose to eat burger , steak or other meats in the restaurants ( without bread chips or batter ) and avoid potatoes nd rice - you will feel a lot heathier for it 1

Well done to you too -youv'e got a lot further than me on the weight front - though frankly I've been above 90kg for donkey's years so I'm not that surprised my body doesn't know what normal actually is !

    4 Different Readings

I attach three days of print outs from a libre. You can see from this that if you happen to catch the your blood sugars when it is changing fast, you will simply see a big switch - yet the actual continuous monitor is showing the trend and there is nothing to worry about. Its unlikely you...

    4 Different Readings

I wear a libre freestyle - it often changes just like that minute by minute - sugars can be very volatile . Movements between meals are often a function of what you ate for the 24 hours previously not just the prior meal. Nothing to worry about in those figures.

    Should I be disappointed?

Hi, you are doing just fine . Take a look at the history in my signature, That kind of trajectory is reasonably typical for someone following LCHF. If you stick with things, you should find it continually improves over time. All is going according to plan so well done!

I'm still way overweight currently 94 kg - should be closer to 67 kg ( I'm 5.5 female aged 60) . The visceral fat showing on my Tanita is still giving a score of around 11-12 - still have a big morning liver dump, but foods in general seem to keep me under around 6 . I rarely eat anything...

    18 months in Hba1c 34 5.3% from 92 10.3%

Had my official blood test check up today. My story - I lost 30 kg from 115 to 89 at the minimum, but found maintaining that hugely hard, every where I turned my body seemed to want to increase again. I decided to stop worrying too much about the actual weight for a while and instead focus...
