    Stress - T1

Unfortunately stress like illness can send you very high or very low. I tend to go very low, and on occasion visit A+E because of it. I think high sugars are more common and I've been told that yoga can be very helpful for this, but I guess any de-stressers would work and it is probably trial...

    Pump or no pump

There are now pumps that combine with CGM. I have the Animas Vibe and you can get CGM with that although it isn't funded yet, at least not in my area. I don't have great control but I love my pump and can't imagine life without it.

    Fasting Lipids

Thank you for replies, my cholesterol is borderline and as I'm T1 they've put me on statins. Apparently it's the phlebotomists who have made this decision and not the docs so I might have to make an appointment to check out the full story. If I get no joy there, then I will have to try the walk...

    Fasting Lipids

Can anyone tell me if it's normal not to do fasting bloods any more ? I've been type 1 for a number of years and was asked to get fasting blood test done for my next hospital appt. When I went to my GP surgery they told me they are no longer doing fasting blood tests. Since when ? Why ? How do...

T1 diagnosed 25 years ago seeking similar for mutual support

Re: T1 diagnosed 25 years ago seeking similar for mutual sup Hello, so nice (although that doesn't sound quite right) to hear people experiencing the same problems. I was diagnosed 27 years ago and at the grand old age of 46 still can't get it right. I remember a great - aunt telling me not to...

    Odd one

Oh yes!! I spent years denying I had diabetes, I didn't feel like there was anything 'wrong' with me and thought the doctors were wrong. Eventually of course I had to admit I was wrong and they were right, but I was so used to bad control that I made loads of excuses to continue my behaviour. My...

    Funny hypo moments (in retrospect)

Like these. I have loads I could add and have to say I have amazed people with how low I can go and still make reasonable sense, but sometimes have been totally gaga at 3mmol. I think my best one was a night hypo some years ago where I fell out of bed and decided it was more comfortable on the...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hello, I'm Sandy, female, just turned 46, been type 1 diabetic for ..... far too long, about 27 years!! I am on an insulin pump, have been for about 4 years. Control is shaky, I lost my hypo warning signals about 12 years ago and even with the pump have never really got them back. I am insulin...
