    Cheer me up...please!

I don't often check before bed, but the couple of times I have, it's been 6.something, so maybe it's going too low at night?

    Thanks!

    Cheer me up...please!

I hope I'm as lucky as you! I'll keep taking them until my blood test next week, then decide what to do. TBH, I did honestly forget one evening last week. I remembered when I was in bed but decided I couldn't be bothered to get up and find something to eat (and I wasn't hungry) but the next...

    Cheer me up...please!

Maybe I'm just not thinking clearly, but how do I know what effect lchf is having on my BG? I'm trying really hard, having maybe 30-50g max carbs per day (although sometimes only around 10) but I'm also taking 80mg gliclazide and 500mg metformin. The DN told me to take 1000mg metformin, but I...

    type 2/sciatica/diarrhea/fed up

I don't think it was the metformin upsetting me - I had been taking it for 2 weeks with no problem. I think it was the codeine.

    Drinking Alcohol

It's not the sugar content you need to look at, it's the carbs. There are 18g carbs in a pint (I googled it!)

Newly diagnosed and taking metformin - help

I went through the same thing, and the people on here were very helpful :) Your body is used to high sugar levels and you're feeling bad while you get used to having normal levels. My diabetic nurse told me when I'm feeling bad to have a banana or a slice of bread (she obviously didn't...

    type 2/sciatica/diarrhea/fed up

I did a test before my "meal" and it was 7.0 (much the same as this morning) I hadn't read your message but I've had some vegetable stock with some mixed (formerly frozen) veg in it, masquerading as veg soup because I was actually feeling hungry. I've left the cocodamol alone today so if I'm...

    type 2/sciatica/diarrhea/fed up

I can't take naproxen - it upsets my tummy, although it seems like codeine also does now :( I've had two physio sessions and I was going to go swimming this morning, as that helped a lot when I had this last year, but for obvious reasons I couldn't. Maybe tomorrow...

    type 2/sciatica/diarrhea/fed up

I've been on 80mg gliclazide and 500mg metformin for about 2 weeks. I've also had sciatica for about 10 days. On Saturday the pain was really bad and I found 2 solpadol from 2014 in the bathroom cabinet and took them. They did help with the pain and so on Monday I managed to get an...

    Happy holiday

If I could eat steak and vegetables I would be fine, but I've always been a fussy eater, and although not vegetarian, the only meat I eat is a little chicken or mince! I think I'm going to have to get a bit more adventurous with fish :)

    Happy holiday

I'm going to Turkey for 10 weeks in May, and dreading it. I was only diagnosed in February so I don't think it's practical for me to not take my meter. Eating out is going to be a nightmare. I don't want to go at all, if the truth was known, but I can't tell my OH that. He's so looking...

Seven weeks after blood test I get to see the DN

Absolutely :) I'm ignoring the advice about the bread too!

Seven weeks after blood test I get to see the DN

I want to see her fall off her chair with surprise when she gets the results of my next HbA1c :)

Seven weeks after blood test I get to see the DN

That's what I thought. I read it somewhere, probably on this forum :) TBH, when I started low carbing I felt brilliant and I had so much energy. I hadn't realised how tired the high sugar levels were making me. I've been on medication for a week and felt generally "under the weather" the...

Seven weeks after blood test I get to see the DN

I went back for my review today. The average on the meter she gave me is 6.7 but she didn't even look at that. She looked at the book that came with the meter where I had written down my results. She asked if I had changed my diet - I told her I was eating low carb, then she asked if I'd had...

What did you eat for breakfest? Do you eat breakfest?

I usually have oatbran, maybe with an apple cooked in it for breakfast, but for lunch I often have an avocado mashed up with feta cheese, a few walnuts, olives, and maybe tomato - it's lovely :)

Sugar free drinks and blood sugar

I saw my DN for the first time a week ago and she asked if I drank diet drinks. I said maybe one can in the evening and then not every evening, and she told me to stop drinking it. I went away thinking "why?" My other half said (with hindsight) I should have told her 4 cans a night, every...

    metformin and alcohol

Thanks everyone. I don't want to go out and get bladdered every night, just the occasional drink would be nice

    metformin and alcohol

I've just been prescribed metformin reading the leaflet it says not to drink any alcohol. It's not that I'm an alcoholic or anything :) but does this mean I can't even have the occasional drink and what will happen if I do?
