    total frustration

Edited... I don't know what a cde is. It depends on when your dietitian was trained and whether there they have kept up with the latest research. If they tell you to eat carbs, grains and fruits then you should come back here.

So you can eat soup? Mushroom soup was a favourite of mine. Always homemade, chicken. Cauifloilower google keto soup. You can batch cook and keep in the fridge or freezer. Crouton, see seriously low carb rolls, store in freezer until needed. Expensive, but luxury, for when needed. Book a...

Does your surgery have a Specialist Diabetic Nurse? She may just be a visiting one. Mine attended the surgery once a month, and I found out by accident. You could ask for a telephone appointment if you can't get face to face. Mine put me on insulin, I was on steroids and she totally got...

    NEWLY DIAGNOSED

I agree with the others. Diet clubs are in no way qualified to advise T2 diabetics on diet. You will get the best advice from your meter which will tell you whether what you ate was suitable for you. We are all different. The NHS dietary advice for T2 is pants.

    Help

My neuro said better fat than dead. It's all the other side effects I object to. I use a libre to track my glucose. I find it helpful if I can keep it in my arm.

    Keto

I do keto. I eat meat. I don't like supermarket meat. I like animals that have had a good life, stress free, grass fed. As a T2 I shouldn't eat over processed foods. If you look at some of these so called Plant Based meals, the ingredients are horrendous. Follow the money when looking at...

Please can you help, high reading in the morning…

Unless you are lactose intolerant, the skinnier the milk, the higher the carbs. When they take out the fat out of stuff to make it healthy, they add back in lots of rubbish to make it taste better. Always read the ingredients.

Lookup Dawn phenomenon. Your liver thinks it's doing you a favour. It will get the message eventually. Ignore it for now.

I'm really concerned I've been given bad advice...

It is normal to have a second test to confirm diabetes. If your hba1c was 40, you are not quite pre diabetic. But it is close enough to warrant another test. Do you need to lose any weight? If you cut your carbs a bit you should push your number down. How many of these reddit users are...

    Do I have diabetes?

We can't diagnose on the forum. A red throat indicates some form of infection which will raise blood sugars. Get the antibiotics out of your system and have the hba1c blood test. Chances are you are fine.

There are alternatives to pasta. If you Google low carb or keto Mediterranean you will find hundreds of suggestions.

    Type 2 new diagnosis: confused??

Fruit is not good for T2. Berries are OK, preferably with Greek yoghurt or double cream. Vegetables should be above ground. Alcohol is fine, spirits with diet mixers. Stay away from beer and lager. I'm a red wine type of gal myself.

    Type 2 new diagnosis: confused??

A glucose meter can be your best friend. @Rachox has some good information, you won't get it on the NHS. Let us know what you eat in a typical day.

    Which Insulin better for low-carb?

I use novorapid. There is nothing rapid about it. I have to take it 20 minutes before I eat.
