You may have impaired glucose tolerance but it has not hadt ime to do much damage hence your good HBA1C. With your lifestyle changes you could maintain non-diabetic figures and never need further treatment. I certainly wouldn't say you were in denial - anyone would question the situation...

What has been your experience of taking ACE inhibitors?

Re the renal protection supposedly given by ramipril- I seem to remember that the most recent study cast doubt on this. Haven't a clue where i saw it though. Maybe someone else knows?

    How hi is high?

Just to clarify ,Tony, as I think you might be misunderstanding Hi and Lo on meterssmeans that the reading is off the scale. The handboook should explain exactly what this means -it can vary between makes. Its not that the reading is inaccurate- just outside the normal range.

    re please be careful..I'm leaving

I really wouldn't take it to heart Maybird. I don't know how long you 'lurked' around the forum before posting but its always a good idea to read old posts and just read for a while first because otherwise you may misunderstand and be misunderstood. ou do have to have rather a thick skin at...

Type 1 & Type 2 and this Forum

Yes I totally agree wih this but just meant that there was litle point in making too big a thing about different types and meds etc when there was no way of checking if the information was accurate and that by reading by alleged 'type' people could be missing good info from those not fitting...

Type 1 & Type 2 and this Forum

y Yes good point. I was jjust going to comment that there is no way of telling whether anyone is being truthful about the type of diabetes they have or even if they are actually diabetic. Some will wonder why anyone would nbother to claim to have diabetes if they din't but I am sure it must...

    Neuropathy questions.

Probably a good idea to get tested before just attempting to supplement though don't you think Paul? I understand there are various groups who cannot absorb it very well through diet. In any case many of those most at risk will not be aware of the symptoms. I can't imagine that this test...

    Neuropathy questions.

I am amazed that they dont t' test for B12 deficiency as a matter of course but also that they do not appear to consider it as a possible cause for muscle cramps etc. I think awareness for HCPs of the symptoms of B!2 needs raising as so many people are now likely to be on metformin for long...

Type 1 & Type 2 and this Forum

I think we should remember that some posters may have knowledge of different types of diabetes from different sources. I have known quite a few with T1 and T2 in the immediate family and I think that , for example, a T2 parent of a T1 child would have a great deal of useful experience ...
