    Suitable medication for IBS-D sufferers

What diet did you follow for your diabetes, and how high is your blood glucose or hba1c? Would there be room for more dietary changes if this would help your diabetes? There are many different medications for diabetes nowadays, so if metformin isn't the right one for you there are other...

    Emergency out of insulin riga!

What about asking at a pharmacy? Do you have any type of Swedish health insurance, as you're saying you're a Swedish citizen? I think being a Swedish citizen should allow for at least part of the cost when abroad.

Help !! T2D and suddenly Chronic Kidney Disease

I thankfully don't know too much about kidney stones or CKD (knocks wood), but I'm tagging @JoKalsbeek who did a lot of research on kidney stones and other kidney issues, and @Grant_Vicat and @Ushthetaff who both have experience with CKD. Wish you all the best, hopefully this is a temporary...

    There is no Spoon?

Hi @There is no Spoon I just wanted to welcome you back! It's been years, and it's always good to see a familiar name pop up. How are you doing? I hope you haven't come back because you're struggling with your diabetes, I'd rather see you because you missed us. ;) mod edit to remove...

    Hello!

Hi @Suewantstolive , welcome to the forum. In addition to what others have said above, having high blood glucose tends to make many of us feel very tired, drained of energy, ready to fall asleep, especially after meals. And high blood glucose can cause depressed feelings on a purely physical...

    tresiba

I've never had this side effect from Tresiba, and I've never heard of nausea as a side effect for any type of insulin. How long have you been on Tresiba and for how long have you been feeling nauseous? Can it be coincidence unrelated to the Tresiba?

How to support teen with fear of lows

I do, but I'm away for the weekend and illegally sleeping in my car at a very pretty place, and I can't muster the courage to try to share that picture on my phone. You can do so yourself though, google will lead you to the picture!

i have had 2 c peptide test both back with untraceable c peptide anyone else experience this

Hi @louise rycroft , welcome to the forum. I suppose you've had the c-peptide tests because your doctor suspected T1 as well. Low/undetectable c-peptide is usually not seen in T2's and very common in T1's. Are you being treated by a GP or by an endo? I see you're on insulin, what type(s) of...

    Hba1c result

Are you sure you don't have T3C instead of T2? It's when you don't produce enough insulin because of damage to the pancreas, and it often means you need creon as well. Are you treated by a GP or an endocrinologist?

The end of the road for Levemir.

The pains I had on Lantus disappeared when I switched to Tresiba. I also love the stability of Tresiba, although this can be a downside if you regularly adjust your basal dose.

Purchase insulin pen needles and test strips

What country are you in? Insulin pen needles and teststrips for insulin users are funded by the NHS in the UK, things can vary in other countries.

    Newbie type 2

Why are you terrified of dropping blood glucose? Low BG is usually only an issue for people on insulin or gliclazide. Anything you read about hypos doesn't apply to people on metformin, it's just not a thing. Non diabetics go as low as mid 3's without issue, being in the 4's on metformin only...

    HbA1c down by 89 in 4 months

No carbs in rum, and the alcohol even lowers bg a little by distracting the liver so it forgets to dump glucose in the bloodstream. ;)

    Low Carb advice needed

Hi @Tinymus , welcome to the forum! If you reduce one food group you'll have to increase another, you need calories after all. I keep it simple, I skip the main carbs and eat the rest to satiety, I have no idea how much fat and protein I eat. As for cholesterol, it may well be that your lipids...

What do you love to eat?

Grate any type of hard cheese, spread in a thin layer on a baking sheet, zap in microwave for a couple of minutes (or in oven for a bit longer). That's all! You can add spices like black pepper, paprika etc if you like. Once cooled, they should be as crispy as regular crisps, if not, they need...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

There are a couple of threads on exercise with T1, here's a very long one you may find useful: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/managing-exercise-and-insulin.127691/

In remission for [emoji639] years but…

Any room to vary more with your meals and not eat the same stuff all the time? I often find ideas on this thread: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-you-eaten-today-low-carb-forum.75781/page-3259

    Diagnosis just before holiday

Enjoy your holiday! I think looking at menus a little differently and postponing diving deeper into this diabetes thing until after you're back is a very sound approach. Come back on the forum with all your questions once you're back home and over your jet lag. ;)

LADA after being initially diagnosed as T2

Semglee and Lantus are both insulin glargine, Semglee is a biosimilar of Lantus, and I wouldn't expect much of a difference in action time. An alternative is Tresiba, which has a longer action time. And many people find they are more stable on a split dose of Lantus taken morning and night...
