    Diagnosis just before holiday

I remember from the period before my diagnosis that I often had trouble staying awake (in hindsight especially after eating). If your exhaustion is caused by higher blood glucose levels, you may see a difference very quickly with a few different choices in food. It might even make your holiday...

Coffee and Insulin Spikes in the morning.

The problem is that you chose to word your personal experience in a very generalising way, speaking as if it's universal truth when many of us have different experiences. It's not about a single sentence taken out of context, it's about half the body of your posts consisting of generalised...

Coffee and Insulin Spikes in the morning.

@jabalka , I've had T1 for over 8 years, and during those years I've had periods of beig very sedentiary due to depression, and periods with a decent amount of exercise. My coffee intake stayed the same, and it never impacted my BG. So while you may see this effect as a T1, it's definitely not...

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

Here's the graph. For what it's worth, I was diagnosed at 39 (48 now), and I can't think of any significant medical history or trauma that could be relevant to my diagnosis.

Are more people getting Type 1 in their late twenties and early thirties?

I think it's much more likely that fewer people stay misdiagnosed as a 'T2 on insulin' for the rest of their lives nowadays. I'm not sure that tests for C-peptide or antibodies were even possible in your youth. Here's a recent graph on age on diagnosis, but even that one must hold quite a lot...

    Using a GlucoRx

This sounds like something is going wrong with your testing. Are your testrips still in date? Are you sure you're using the GlucoRx correctly? Those numbers do not make any sense at all. Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hi Debbie, welcome. There is no such thing as a diet to cure type 1 diabetes. While adjusting your food choices can help manage blood glucose levels, no food choice can make dead beta cells produce insulin again. The treatment for T1 is insulin, because we don't produce it ourselves in...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

If you're worried, what about asking your GP for an hba1c test to see where you stand? Short peaks up to 9 are not that unusual for non diabetics, could be you're onto something, could be you're nowhere near diabetes.

    Freestyle libre sensors

I've been using DiaBox for years, and every once in a while it starts to become very slow to react. I'm assuming this is because it keeps all data. So once or twice a year, when it becames annoyingly slow I remove the app and reinstall, which for me fixes the issue.

Did you have bad experience with hospitalisation for mental health problems before? With how you're feeling at the moment, this may give you just the break you need. Wish you all the best, please let us know how you are if you can, I was worried about you.

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

This would be in mmol/mol, the usual way to measure in the UK. I take it you are very recently diagnosed, and your 130 mmol/mol hba1c was your diagnotic one. This should come down soon, once your insulin is starting to do its job. Hba1c tells you something aout your blood glucose during the...

    Humulin I for Basal?

Make sure to make it very clear that not getting the green light on using the fast acting makes you very unhappy, and you really want to start using it for meals. Many new diagnosed diabetics are reluctant and a bit scared with insulin, so it may be your nurse is thinking they're doing you a...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I keep a very close eye on my bg, both with a sensor and with some fingerpricks, and I act quickly to what I see. Often just slightly nudging my bg up with a single bite of an apple or such, or down with a small extra dose of insulin. I usually choose to eat low carb, because I find it very hard...

    Humulin I for Basal?

My nurse was reluctant to start me on a bolus insulin at first as well. I was very, very clear in my wish to start it as soon as possible because the post meal highs made eating completely frustrating. So I wasn't patient and it helped to get what I wanted. I felt so much better once I could...

    Queries , 1 by 1, from a type 2, Metformin & 1x insulin, low body weight , lowish carbs

From your other thread I take it you are mainly seeing higher blood glucose in the morning, after breakfast. I already mentioned foot on the floor effect (liver dumping glucose to get you going for the day) and the carb content of your breakfast, but this poses a third factor. Levemir has an...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hi Chloe, welcome to the forum. You can try the insulin pump forum, or simply use the more general Ask a Question or Diabetes Discussions section. Wherever you choose to post, it always helps to choose a title reflecting the subject, something like "Omnipod 5 and breakfast spikes".
