    Dissapointing

I didn't know statins could raise your sugar levels. I take one at bed time and my levels always go up 2-3 points overnight, I thought it was the dawn phenomenon but maybe the statins are playing a part.

Sorry, can't offer any advice - just sympathy. Sounds really frightening and not surprised you want to avoid a repeat.

    Given in to the carbs...

I've just spent 2 weeks touring China - Chinese for lunch and dinner every day! Previously been lchf for 8 weeks and had halved my meds. Just upped them a little for the holiday. Not ideal I know but had a great time and back on the wagon now.

Why do levels go up over night?

Last night, 4 hours after a low carb meal, I took my reading before bed. It was only 3.2. Rather low, but not worried as I know they always go up over night, not down. 8 hours later it was 5.5. All I'd done was sleep. How does it always go up over 2 points can anyone explain. I've been type 2...

    Eating Out

I would never expect a waiter to know what food a person with diabetes can/cannot have. My gp and diabetic nurse have been giving me the wrong advice for years! Sent from my iPad using DCUK Forum

    Low carb diet

Never even heard of lada or type 1. 5 have just looked it up and could apply as am now on max tablets and next step insulin. Been less than 9 years diagnosed, never been overweight. Will possibly try low carb and see if it has any impact. Sent from my iPad using DCUK Forum

    Low carb diet

Thank you for all the replies. I will definitely look into a low carb diet as my meds have steadily gone up and up. Doctor and nurse have never mentioned it!

    Low carb diet

Does a low carb diet work for someone who is not particularly overweight? I was diagnosed type 2 9 years ago and put straight on medication. Was told then it wasn't fault of diet. BMI was 21 and still is. Would a really low carb diet help me? I don't really want to loose much weight. Sent...
