    Type 2 Lactulose

Thank you for the replies. The pharmacist was reluctant to sell it to me, but didn’t suggest an alternative. I have been told to take regularly as it is important to a avoid constipation as I have pelvic organ prolapse. Perhaps I’ll buy some at a different pharmacy and test or look into an...

    Type 2 Lactulose

Does Lactulose raise blood sugars? I have bee advised to take it and have previously been prescribed it, since I’ve been diabetic, but the pharmacist said I shouldn’t take it as I’m diabetic.

What do you find the hardest about living with diabetes?

Thank you for that, I’ll certainly give it a go.

What do you find the hardest about living with diabetes?

I really miss porridge, especially on these cold winter mornings. I generally have ff Greek yoghurt and a few berries while my OH has a big bowl of hot porridge with a spoon full of golden syrup mixed in - lovely! Wish there was a lc alternative.

    I'm new..ish

Welcome to the club! @daisy1 will be giving you lots of help, but for a start, just cut out or cut right down on anything sweet and all obvious carbs ie bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. Substitutes can be made - cauliflower rice for rice, nuts, cheese or pork scratching instead of crisps or...

    Hi to all,

I make a cauliflower curry soup which is warming in cold weather. I do agree it is more difficult when your oh is eating sweets, chocolates, mince pies etc etc. Good luck

    Magnesium oil

I’ve been taking magnesium supplements for just a few weeks now and definitely helped with insomnia.

    Keto Diet

Not odd, I agree entirely with what you said. Eating in our family has always been a sociable occasion and something to enjoy. Eating out is more restrictive now and cooking for the family more tricky, with a carb loving OH and fussy grandchildren. Still, hopefully it’s worth it!

    Advent Calendar

For the first time in my life I have an advent calendar! My daughter bought me a pork scratching one - I never knew they even existed. Feel very happy about it, looking forward to December 1st!

    Vitamin B12 deficiency?

Ask you doctor for a blood test. B12 deficiency’s not uncommon on Metformin. I had it and now take a supplement each day as prescribed.

Type 2 Gliclazide been put on this after Metformin

I still take one 80g Gliclazide in the morning, normally eat about 30g carbs a day but don’t have hypos. Last 2 blood tests were 38. So quite happy with that. I haven’t really got the willpower or lifestyle to go even lower carb which I would have to to drop the gliclazide completely. Used to...

Changes in hb1ac : why the variance?

There’s nothing wrong with 38/39. I’m actually delighted that I have achieved it!

    Shared GP appointments

I did that myself for 9 years, did as I was told, simply because I hadn’t heard of lchf and stupidly didn’t realise carbs were sugars. I think the medical profession is slowly changing and starting to give better advice. I think if people are presented with the results and told about low carb at...

    Shared GP appointments

I’ve never been invited on a course, but would welcome the chance to ‘spread the word’ either on a course or group session.

    Breakfast ideas and travelling abroad

I generally take a pack or 2 of pork scratching to supplement the little I eat of the on board food. I would also pack a few packets and nuts to eat on holiday in case I don’t get enough low carb food. Not normally needed though. Hopefully the hotel will do English breakfast or omelettes, these...
