It is not possible to compare the number of cases as testing was very limited in March.

The last set of ramdom tests of the population showed about 1 in 1000 infection rate, and some of these people will be self ioslating, hence the risk of a ramdom person you walk past being infected is under 1 in 1000.

    High fasting normal Hba1c

https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/vegetarian and https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/recipes/vegetarian may be useful. I think you would benfit from buying yourself a Freestyle Llbre for a few weeks and seeing how your body responds to different meals For example you may find the...

    High fasting normal Hba1c

Try low carb for a few weeks to see how it makes you feel and what effect it has on fasting BG. Remember you may need a little more salt, and it takes a few weeks for your body to adjust so don't judge the results after a few days. (too little salt or dehydration can result in headaches)...

Given how much more space there is in parks and open fields etc compared to many pavements, I expect driving to a location to walk will be a lower risk for many people then walking from their homes. Be creative, for example in some areas there are nice businesses parks with landscaped ground...

No, if not living alone, can't meet anyone but can go out with one member of own household. If a person is living alone they can meet one person while outside. It to allow people without gardens to get some Vit D. Remember people who are shielding are not legally required to keep to the advice.

    Diabetes Rewind program

Testing your blood just before starting a meal and two hours later, aiming to keep the increase in BG below 2 will be a great way for you to find what foods your body can cope with when you start the food reintroduction state.

    Diabetes Rewind program

I think they hope the GPs will give lifestyle advice as requird by NICE before starting people on the drugs.

    Diabetes Rewind program

If you search on this forum for "Newcastle Diet" you will find threads from people who done it. The hard part is deciding what you will eat after the shakes and keeping to it long term.

    University Student Advice

The risk to people under 40 with diabetes is much lower then the risks to older people. The landlord will very likely win any court case over you refusing to pay rent, and if he/she has done the paperwork correctly will be able to force the parents of any of the tenants to sell their homes to...

diabetes and other co-morbidities with COVID-19

One issue is that they measured BG variability after people were admitted with COVID-19, hence the poor BG may be due to people being sicker with COVID-19 So is this more a statement of how a person responds to hospital food, eg their level of inslin resistance?

    Type 1 Dka

There have been reports of people with type2 having DKA when admitted with COVID-19. Remember the test for COVID-19 can give false negatives. Clearly having type1 diabetes is also a very likely option. Hopefully once you are fully recovered and the NHS has recovered from COVID-19 you can...

I think if someone just has diabetes, an A1c over 77 or DKA in last year qualifies the person for shealding.

Corona vIrus - interesting view by Professor Rupert Read

It possible that it was in the UK before 1st Jan. The clear error the government has made was not scaling up testing from the start of this year, and testing everyone with cold/flu like symptoms. Then we would have know about the cluster in London etc when it was possible to still trace cases.

To protect your father and the care home, is it practical to move into the care home for the next 13 weeks?

    Coronavirus work advice

If I recall correctly, Diabetes is only considered high risk if the most recent A1c is over 77 and/or hospital admission for DKA in last 12 months. Otherwise diabetes puts us in the middle risk group. Personally if I worked in a supermarket, I would see if I could move to deliveries, "click...

    For the cheese lovers.....

Due to the Cheshire Cheese Company closing all their shops they have packs of 6 cheases on offer, with free delivery if you spend over £50 (about 2 packs). My order arrived within 2 days and had used by dates a few months ahead. See https://www.cheshirecheesecompany.co.uk/

In praise of all the delivery drivers, pickers, truck drivers, and anyone working to supply us

Personally I rather wash my hands well then use gloves unless for practical reasons I can't wash my hands quickly enough. The issue with gloves is that few people can remove them in a safe way and unless the gloves are dispose, the risk remains on the gloves and you will touch them when you...

Type 1 Getting food whilst quarantinig

I am expecting a large increase in "click and collect" provision within days. This then makes it much easy to get a friend to collect shopping. Dilvery slots are harder to increase as it needs temperature controlled vans. Remember few people with diabetes (unless kidney transplant) are in...
