There will be a local drug and alcohol service near you which your doctor will know or you can find on the internet. AA is very good and supportive. Al-anon is also very good support for families and friends of alcoholics.

I then found this forum and have been reading and it was suggested that I got a testing kit. It makes sense to me that if I want to understand...

    Thyroid, PCOS & Now Diabetes

Interesting I have had PCOS for many years but not one doctor along the way said I could end up with T2 or even that there was a risk. I think the last gynecologist I saw just told me I was too fat, her words not mine. Bit more research for my very new journey I think.

Hi, Iv just had a diagnosis of type 2

Hi @Lianne71 I was just diagnosed as type 2 on Thursday and I am still trying to get my head round it. I have read loads on here and sent off for the code free meter, I am good with the practical stuff but the emotional stuff takes a little while to figure out. Hope you get on OK.

The doctor did say I do not have to test, but I did wonder how I would know what I was doing. I shall look at testing kits. Thanks.

Thank you. I do think I'm in shock a bit. I have read a lot in the last 24hrs and sent of for a couple of books. I have also ordered a medical alert bracelet, joined diabetes UK and found this forum so I have been productive. I just need my inner world to settle and catch up.
