Do you feel that diabetes has ruined your life ?

I’ve come to accept it. Before I was diagnosed, my health deteriorated. I would have died of the ...pathy disease (can’t remember the correct term). Serious pains in my legs and other parts of my body. I used to be healthy and vivacious personality until I became stressed up with some problems...

Type 2 Very high bg after breakfast

Thank you very much for this information! Ignorance is one the reasons why people die in all these third world countries. Do you know that we still have another delicacy prepared by pounding cooked yam which is deadliest for diabetics. This is largely eaten by my vast tribe. Majority cannot do...

Type 2 Very high bg after breakfast

Appreciation! Diabetes is a mysterious disease. I refused to eat yesterday after my ordeal with 16.8 bg after breakfast. Around 6 45pm in the evening I had hypo but meanwhile my intended dinner of green plantain was already done. I grabbed it and I started eating it. Within 10 minutes I was...

Type 2 Very high bg after breakfast

Appreciation! I have access to eggs. They mix sugar with the yoghurt we have here. I only take it once in a while. I have learnt my lesson.

Type 2 Very high bg after breakfast

Google gave the true description of yam. It is purely a big root vegetable. In west Africa, to prepare the porridge, we peel the back of the yam, wash it and cut it into small pieces. When it is almost cooked, we add spices pepper, leafy vegetables and our local palm oil. I went for it because I...

Type 2 Very high bg after breakfast

T2. I observe these days that I always feel very tired, restless arms down and sleepy after breakfast and after taking my meds usually 500mg metformin and 5mg glibenclamide. I put this on a thread about 3 days ago, a member suggested I should test after my meal. Dismayed that my bg was 16.8 was...

    Sugar and Pot Noodles

I take meds for my raised blood pressure daily. Now with my T2, I sometimes do add some salt to my food. My intuition makes me do that. I don’t know if my intuition is right

    WHY is everyone getting Diabetes

I am not overweight but my mother was diabetic. She lived to be 83 on meds. She led an active and positive life. If I may add too, I read on another forum that the stress which some of might have passed through in the past could have triggered the condition.

    Which meter should I get?

This interesting. It will cost a fortune in my country if it ever comes in. But how much is it.

    Which meter should I get?

Accu Chek is user friendly. I first bought Fine Test but couldn’t use it because I found the test process complicating. The test strips were wasted, then I went to buy Accu Chek. I’ve never had problem with it.

Dr told me that I should be only testing once a day because I’m T2

Grateful for this forum! The test strips are expensive in my country. I have just three left in the container now. I regularly test once a day. I rarely test twice a day. People see diabetics as unfortunate souls here because of the expensive drugs and materials we buy.
