Diabetes.co.uk co-founder appears on BBC Business Live

That was the rate in the control group (eg current standard of care), the rate for people on the diet was close to 50%.

Diabetes.co.uk co-founder appears on BBC Business Live

If I recall correctly from the Newcastle diet study, about 1% of people in the control group got remission. Remember they only included people who were resently diagnosed and excluded anyone on insulin, so in "reallife" it is less then 1%.

If you register with a new GP practice you are likely to get at at least a 20 minutes appointment to review current drugs etc..

Diabetes.co.uk co-founder appears on BBC Business Live

Remember that with the current standard of care, it is 1‰ of people who put diabetes into remission. Also I expect I would be counted as not doing so, as I have seen no good reason to stop metformin.

C-Peptide testing. Should I stop meds B4 test?

It depends on the questions being asked. For example if you keep taking the drugs, the test will show if need insulin as well or instead of the drugs you are on at present. A low result would point towards inslin being a good option, a very high result could point towards drugs that reduce...

    Slimfast et al

One easy way to eat a 3rd less is just to advoid all "dence" carbs and suger but keep the rest of the food the same. (moderate low carb) Have a look at the "eight week blood suger diet" book for a way to do a 800 call diet with real food. However personally I think very low carb with or...

Newly diagnosed but honestly not surprised

If you have reduced process food it is licky your salt intake is lower then it was. It is possible your body does not like the artificial sweeteners your are drinking. Unless the headache etc improve over the weekend I think you should see your GP about them, as they may have an unrelated...

Newly diagnosed but honestly not surprised

@NeilHewitt a few thoughts have come to mind.... As your take BP meds, are you testing your BP yourself at home? (It's possible that it is now a bit low.) Have you just started on satins as well as metformin? How much salt are you getting in your diet? Are you drinking enough water?

    Michael Mosley on stage

Let's say, I expect most people with Type2, if they had him as a GP, would be doing a lot better then standard NHS care.

Agree in a ideal world, but many people in the US can't afford medical care.

Nearly T2 aiming to stop that early

Shreddies are 73.7% carbs, the milk also contains carbs. Bread is very high in carbs. Pasta and rice are both very high in carbs, so are pies, chips, and pizza. For breakfast, you can quickly cook an egg mixed with a little cream and cheese in the microwave. (1 or 2 minutes) For lunch have a...

Nearly T2 aiming to stop that early

Please list everything you have had to eat and drink in the last week, from experience people often don't release they are eating something with lots of carbs.

    Extended fasting

From the little I understand, "Refeeding syndrome" is due to glycogen stores in muscle all being refilled fast at the same time and resulting in a blood electrolyte (I think potassium) imbalance. So avoid carbs after a fast. Bone broth may also reduce the risk and a little-added table salt...

Heart attacks and Type 2 Diabetes

There is no good evidence that Red Wine is good for our hearts, but there is also no good evidence of harm from a little red wine. Therefore provided you don't have issues with Liver Function, drink a small glass of red wine a few times a week provided you like doing so.

Heart attacks and Type 2 Diabetes

The only cardiologist I trust on diet is Dr Aseem Malhotra. As to asking to see a dietitian, I can't think of a worse way to increase my stress level for no benefit..... (Sorry most dietitian only know what their food industry masters include in their training.) But remember the HF in LCHF...
