    Can I take an extra metformin

    Do not exceed the stated dose especially without consulting your doctor. I was on metformin but now stopped (it made me ill) but it doesn't seem to reduce blood sugar much anyway.

    I must be really lucky. My husband non diabetic decided the best way to help me was to go low carb himself as well. Now he actually prefers spiralized courgettes etc instead of rice with his bolognese! Only problem is he has lost more weight than me and he is quite slim!

    If I make a meal e.g. Bolognese I add up carbs of everything in it then divide by number of portions - which is what you seem to be doing. Hope that helps.
