Where to inject ...

Hi. I have a lot of stretch marks on my stomach. When I inject there, I'm never really sure if the insulin is getting in, or if it's slowed down by the tissue in that area. I assume the stretch marks are scar tissue. I have a diabetes nurse, but also speak with my gp. But both tend to differ frequently on any diabetic advice. I trust the diabetes nurse more because she is a good listener, much less the gp because she is a "teller" not an advisor. When I asked the gp about the stretch marks, she said try using different sites, the upper arm or the upper inner thighs. After using the upper arms for a while, I noticed a better result, and told the diabetes nurse. But she warned because that was mainly muscle tissue to do it on the underside of the upper arm in the fatty area or the upper inner thighs. So, Ive been injecting into the upper inner thighs for two or three months now and my BG seems a lot more stable now. So, finally, my question is, do you have any thoughts or opinions as to what sites are best, better, bad, or worse?

Thanks

Yeah, my BG was running high between 15 - 20 mmol/l for several months while injecting in that regular zone. But once I changed to my inner thigh much better results within a week.

Hi. Everything I've read and seen says the outer thigh not the inner thigh so I think the GP's advice was questionable? It's where I inject and Googling it shows the outer area.

I have a tiger striped belly from my pregnancy over 16 years ago... I use the stretch marks as guidelines for my injection rotation. I start on one side on my belly and inject the the next one is a couple stretch marks over. There is maybe a centimeter or less between the stretch marks.

I have accidentally injected into one and it puffed up and was red and angry!

My A1C last month was 6.0% so no problems and only 2 lows in the past month.
