    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

I have a lot of weight still to lose. Thought I might be overindulging in the cream though!

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

Just had my HbA1c back from doctors this morning down from 60 last September and I started low carb diet mid February, today down to 50! I have also lost a stone but this is very slow, think I will need to rethink the high fat bit!

    Basal insulin split dose units

Lantus sort of stopped working for me mind you that was after more than 20 years. I am now on levemir which seems better for me but I have to split the dose morning and evening, about 2/3 at night 1/3 in the morning. That seems to work for me. I found splitting lantus didn't help at all.

    type 2/sciatica/diarrhea/fed up

I had to stop metformin because of severe diahorrea. I have also had terrible sciatica which eventually went away after months. To ease the pain I used to lie on the floor with my bottom against the sofa and my feet and legs on it a sort of Z shape. I got dihydrocodeine for the pain too...

    Swede Rules

Swede and carrot mash is delicious. We call it turnip here in Scotland! Can't stand the white turnips myself.

    My Tale

It does get easier and the longer you have it the more adept you get at juggling things like shopping, blood tests, eating, doctors appointments etc. The doctors appointments are important but perhaps you could schedule them for more appropriate times for you. I know t depends a lot on surgery...

    Let's have a grumble!

I get it too but I was in a coffee house with my mum many years ago and another lady was having a hypo. Her companion wouldn't let her eat a doughnut which was the handiest thing available, until my mum stepped in. (Retired nurse at that time) mum let her know exactly what could happen if she...

    Cold

Try a steam inhalation with menthol crystals. Seems to loosen it up a bit for me.

    Sore finger joints

It could be anything, I would go see your doctor to get a definitive explanation. It might not be anything to do with your diabetes. Take care.

Perhaps it is. I used to get checked annually by the podiatrist but now it's just by the practise nurse. Cutbacks in NHS Scotland.

    Help plz foot dr

If it's a normal podiatrist appointment they will examine your feet and even sometimes they cut your toenails and remove hard skin. They will also give advice regarding care of your feet, shoe wise, moisturiser etc. Nothing to be afraid of unless you have tickley feet!

Chilli-con-carnie recipes low carb Anyone please ?

I make it with mince, onions, garlic and I substitute mushrooms for the kidney beans. I just add chili powder to suit. I also serve it with courgette noodles which makes it quite low carb as well. I also add the tiniest pinch of cinnamon to take away the bitterness of tomatoes in it.

Type 1 Switching Levemir to Lantus

I went from lantus to levemir with no problems at all. I have also had to change short acting insulins at various times and that didn't really cause me any problems either. Take care.

    Sun burn

I am same as you. I burn more easily now so I just slap on factor 30 for the first week or so then down to factor 15.

Type 2 Higher blood glucose readings after fasting

My readings are usually higher in the morning after fasting but with no exercise then. If I exercise say swimming my readings go up too. Sometimes I think there is no rhyme or reason to it, it just goes up because it can!

    Doctors

Same problem with me. I ended up funding my own strips as GP will not prescribe strips for my meter. I found that the meter given by my GP was useless. I have gone from 73% out of range to 93 % in range using the contour next one. I am in the fortunate position that I can afford to buy the...
