First attempts at fasting - how long to continue first extended fast?

Having been busy at work and having had surgery I've not done a fast for a while, but now things are settling down after the operation and whilst I'm off work, I've decided to try another water only fast for a few days. Last ate on Friday evening, so well into the second day and feeling good so...

    Confused

I think you need to patiently explain to your employers what your HbA1c results are and that they're showing that your diabetes has been well managed for the last three months. Maybe point them in the direction of https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/managing-your-diabetes/hba1c which...

    I Am Totally Confused

Intermittent fasting has worked for me. That and more exercise. I occasionally do three day 'water only' fasts, but in the main I'm down to eating one meal a day and drinking lots of water. I also walk about 6 to 7 miles per day. I've lost four stone in the process and gone from insulin onto a...

    Trying to turn things around

Chillaxing weekend coming right up - slept until 8.30 and don't have to be anywhere or do anything until Tuesday! Plenty of sport on the TV this weekend and some good books and music to hand. For me, simply handing somebody some information for them to read isn't good enough - they need to take...

    Trying to turn things around

Thanks, but it takes time and effort ... and sometimes a bit of distance! I can get in a tizz very quickly, especially when I haven't been told about something and/or somebody hasn't taken the time to explain things to me - one of my bugbears with the medical profession is sometimes how you're...

    Trying to turn things around

Well, the roller-coaster ride continues. I was re-admitted to hospital the day following the operation due to concerns about the amount of fluid which had drained in the following 24 hours - district nurse came to remove pressure dressings and was rather surprised about the amount of fluid in...

Is fasting an option, Vicky? Really helped for me - usually only have one meal a day these days and both BG and weight are doing fine.

    Surgery Risks

I had surgery last week and one of the things they did at my pre-op assessement was to check my HbA1C. They also went to great pains to make sure that I understood what I was having done and the possible outcomes - I think it's simply part of the procedure that they have to go through.
