    can type 2`s get hypos?

Hey Andy, Lisinopril is an ACE (angiotensin-converting-enzyme ) inhibitor, used to control high blood pressure! 2G of Metformin ( it makes better use of the insulin you do produce), is unlikely to let you hypo, but nonetheless keep an eye on your bg level! Don't exercise at 4.2 ( in my opinion...

    can type 2`s get hypos?

No such thing as a dumb question, Andy! As a type 2, what are you taking? Some oral meds can take you low, as of course, can insulin! 4.2 is kewl, but you don't want to go any lower that that, if you can! :) Bob

Re: Ask me anything and I'll cheer you up with nonsense thre LOL @ anna, glad I'm not alone, I've lost my car many times! To the point where I have the iPhone app to find my car using GPS, less useful in a multi storey though! Question for the thread starter, lol, - 'What the devil is wrong...

    Cholesterol Levels

Cholesterol is one of those things you need, in moderation! It has 3 main functions, it helps make the outer coating of cells, it makes up the bile acids that digest food in the intestine, and it allows the body to make Vitamin D and hormones like oestrogen in women, and testosterone in men...

    Injecting & testing in public

Re: Injecting & testing in public Hi BlueQ, I work in hospital operating theatres, and test / inject whenever I need to, nobody bats an eyelid! It's important my colleagues know about it, if I had a hypo whilst scrubbed for an operation they need to know what to do! I also test and inject out...

    Newly diagnosed type 2

Re: Newly diagnosed type 2 Hi Sarah1282, Welcome to the forum! There are other drugs your GP can factor in beside metformin. Metformin helps your body to use insulin, it is also good for blood pressure and weight loss! There are other drugs which can squeeze more insulin out of your...

    What's the lowest you've been?

I normally get lots of clear warning, from 3.9 onward, but one morning woke up feeling really ill, headachy, pain everywhere etc, so called in sick and went back to bed. Wife woke me up at midday, to check bg, I felt a little better, no hypo signs but measured a 1.6 :) Bob

    Good evening

I was diagnosed in 2010, tablets of all kinds, basal insulin (lantus) in mid 2012, bolus insulin late 2012 and basal Levemir instead of Lantus in 2013. I too still produce some insulin, randomly! Really messes up my calculations sometimes! I count carbs, and inject accordingly. I sometimes...

    Blood meters

There seem to be a lot of type2's who are being denied testing kit, even though NICE guidelines state that 'anyone on blood glucose lowering treatment ( ie metformin) should have access to self testing'! Seems bizzare to me, the cost of treating one diabetic overnight in hospital would pay for...

    LADA/1.5 so confused??

Hi, I can relate to where you are at, I am awaiting consultant visit to get results of test for T1/\lada! I was diagnosed T2 back in 2010, and started on low dose metformin. Later Repaglinade, Gliclizide, Sitagliptin, each worked for a while. Then on to Lantus as a basal insulin. Transferred...

Hi Unigirl, I'm saddened that you had a negative experience with your practice nurse! Unfortunately, more and more GP's are keeping specialist services in-house, it seems! I am still only diagnosed as type 2, but under investigation for type 1 or lada. Average Blood pressure is 110/60...

    Family Guy & Diabetes Jokes!

Re: Family Guy & Diabetes Jokes! I'm sure the writers of the show know nothing about diabetes, or cerebral palsy, MS or most of the other ailments they poke fun at, including gay/ lesbian activity!
