Hiya
I'm 26 and was diagnosed with type 1 less than a month ago after being rushed to hospital. When the doctors explained it all to me, of course I was upset and thought my life would be limited at the least. However, since I've been home I have been suprised by how well I have taken it. I've not even had a down day, Injecting myself isn't great and my long acting insulin does sting but that is a bout it. My nurse has even told me that she is impressed at how well controlled I am already. Now I'm not saying that i'm happy to have diabetes and I'm still worried about the future when I wish to have kids but it's not as bad as I expected. :shifty:

I guess what I really wanted to know is has anyone else experienced this and am I just being naive. I'm just waiting for this big thing to hit and for me not to be able to cope.

Hi Sally! Welcome aboard!

It could be that things become more of a pain later, or it may not! Very individualised!

There is loads of relevant advice and research here, look around a little!
