    Flu Jab

Hi thanks for those replies. I found an NHS Choices' feedback site and it appears that this year the flu jab has ben attributed with some more bizarre effects than usual. Two effects which cropped up quite frequently were peculiar psychotic thoughts and hallucinations! My shoulder is no better. :(

    Flu Jab

Hi I have had 3 flu injections since being diagnosed with Type 1 three years ago. My previous 2 injections produced no adverse side effects (not even raised blood sugars). This year I had my injection on 9th October and ever since I have had a toothache like pain and lots of stiffness in my left...

Glad you are okay tim 2000s and you were able to deal with your hypo effectively, very scary though. Hope your foot heals soon and is not too painful :). Hi moz 1 I had a similar experience to you so I know exactly what you went through, hope you've been okay since :):)

    Type 1 Friends

Hi I was only saying to my husband earlier this evening I wish I could find a fellow Type 1 who could share their experiences of what a typical day/week is like for them. I have never met another Type 1 diabetic or have any history of Type 1 or 2 in my family. I have gained lots of help and...

Hi AlexMBrennan, thanks for your reply that certainly makes sense. :) The fine tuning that happens naturally is absent in us :(

    Exercise, No Food, High BS!

Hi I understand about the liver taking action when sugar levels are low and I know I've asked this before so apologies, but why if the liver acts this way do any of us experience hypos? Thanks Carole

    Flu vac. Yes or no?

    Flu vac. Yes or no?

I totally agree with manicarrie . I would not wish DKA on my worst enemy it was one of the most frightening things I have experienced together with being hospitalised 200 miles from home for a week. Anything that helps reduce the possible risk of developing DKA has to be a good thing. I had my...

Stupid mistake nearly cost me my life

Thanks Jaylee I'm giggling now picturing my husband literally throwing sweets at me, but that is the sensible thing to do thinking about it. I hadn't prepared the meal so the drop in reading remains a mystery. I do take Metformin. I hadn't thought about whether that prevents liver dump. Would...

Stupid mistake nearly cost me my life

Hi Andybee so glad things turned out ok, but sorry you had such a scary experience. I was diagnosed as a Type 1 3 and half years ago at age 55 by way of an emergency admission to A & E with Ketoacidosis which I thought would be the scariest thing I would experience being a diabetic, however 2...

    Dr. changed my needles

Hi I live in South Lincolnshire and I am a Type 1 diabetic. I had my needles changed from BD Microfine to Owen Mumford early this year. I was not notified and I was a bit miffed because they seem a lot flimsier and don't screw onto either my novo rapid or lantus pens that easily, however they...

    Had a fall today

Hi hope you can get some sleep. The pain from a broken bone can be excruciating and has to be experienced to be believed. Fractured leg 8 years ago still lives in the memory. Hope you have a speedy recovery x

Called into the office for using my insulin in staffroom

Hi Beat2k and welcome. Just wanted to send my support and state the obvious that don't these people realise we don't exactly enjoy doing these injections and finger prick testing in public or in private, but the bottom line is we have to do it to stay alive there is no alternative. At least they...

    Type 1!

Hi and welcome. Don't wish to be rude or hurtful, but would love to know what the tablets are you are taking as it would make my life and I am sure countless others' lives so much easier to manage without the relentlessness of injecting or pumping insulin. Do you carb count to get the right dosage?
