    Tandem t:slim maximum bolus

@Juicyj that may be the solution! I find it all a bit confusing- by the time you get through all of the warning messages about max bolus you’re about 5steps away from seeing what the bolus was supposed to be! Then you need to work out the value of carbs to the amount of insulin that’s missing...

    Tandem t:slim maximum bolus

I’m on the t:slim x2 and have already increased my max bolus to 25u (currently their upper limit). I’ll try to find out if there’s a way to override this or if you have to just figure out the correction manually.

    Tandem t:slim maximum bolus

More from me today sorry! More questions keep cropping up as I get used to the pump! I wanted to test the extended bolus function on the pump today, so we treated ourselves to pizza for dinner. I’m on a high ratio of insulin due to insulin resistance. My meal insulin plus a correction...

    Carb counting

Hi all, I am quite new to pumping (exciting times). I attended clinic and spoke to one of the dietitians, who gave me a list of vegetables that I now need to count into my carb intake. These range from sweet potato (which I already count) to tomatoes and brocolli!! I’ve been carb counting for...

    Life insurance

When I needed to get life insurance for my mortgage application, I actually found out that I had it either from my employer or pension provider (I can’t remember which). It was enough for the bank to approve the application. It could be worth checking whether you are covered this way. Most...

    Eye issues

My screening letter is still showing maculopathy and I’ve been kept on the 6 month surveillance program. I’ve booked an appointment with my own optician to try to get more information, as the letters just don’t explain anything. It’s so disheartening, I’ve been working so hard on my diabetes...

Steroid injection and high blood sugars

For reassurance, I promise that I didn’t fast! I eventually got through to a sympathetic receptionist at my hospital who got an endocrine doctor to call me back over the weekend. She reassured me that the high blood sugars were normal, that I should continue to eat carbs just so I wasn’t...

Steroid injection and high blood sugars

It really is! Diabetes is certainly a full time job!

Steroid injection and high blood sugars

I’m definitely not fasting! I’ll maybe grab a a yoghurt and just try to stick to small portions of carbs to avoid big spikes.

Steroid injection and high blood sugars

I’ll be testing ketones regularly and would hope a day of no carbs won’t do anything too much. All I have is an email address for diabetes nurses. They just said to follow sick day rules. For us that is 10% daily dose whilst over 13mmol and more than trace ketones showing. I’m just assuming it...

Steroid injection and high blood sugars

Morning! I have gotten rid of the ketones overnight, I think looooots of water helped with that more than insulin. Despite taking my 10% daily dose every 2 hours I have only managed to moved my sugars down to 12mmol. I also increased my basal overnight which did help. I think I’m going to...

Steroid injection and high blood sugars

I do have ketones now and sugars not moving down :banghead:

Steroid injection and high blood sugars

Hi all, I had a steroid injection in my hip today for a hip injury. I was warned that my blood sugars might be a bit off kilter for a while but I am stressed out with it all. I had the injection at lunchtime and at between 3pm-5pm I spiked from 7mmol to 16mmol. I have done a correction with...

    Privately funding Dexcom

I asked the nurse at my pump assessment. It’s not widely available in Northern Ireland yet - we’re always a bit behind Eng & Wales with changes to protocols. Nurse said that the rationale for that was that everyone in NI was offered the Libre. There was no criteria to meet or postcode lottery...

    Dark fovea

Hi there, I’ve just been for a retinal screening and the photographer had to take a second, off-centre, image of one of my eyes as she said there was a dark fovea. I don’t know what this means. Whether it is something i need to worry about or an image quality problem. At my last screening...

    Eye issues

Thanks @Charlieann94 ! I’ve just got my letter for my eye screening and as always, it has put me into a world of anxiety. I don’t know why this happens every time the appointment comes around! I understand how important it is to do the screening but the weeks leading up to it just make me so...

    Eye issues

Hi @Charlieann94 thank you so much for responding! I think I might be in the same boat as you - more like background retinopathy near the macula than maculopathy itself. The consultant didn’t seem concerned and approved me to start trying. I wanted to bring my sugars down further before...

    Eye issues

Bumping this in case anyone has any new experiences to share. The outcome of this was that the consultant wasn’t worried about the screening results and I’m due for another screen in September. We still haven’t started TTC yet as I just can’t seem to bring my hba1c below 55 and i want to...

    Maculopathy, frightened and confused

@JennR I have had maculopathy flagged twice on routine screenings. The first time, I was brought up to the hospital and taken through all of the in depth tests. At the time they were happy that there was nothing to be concerned about - it was some slight leakage near the centre of my vision. I...
