    Need help again

Hi, I am really struggling with my diabetes and can’t get to see the doctor, my appointments keep getting cancelled. I think the SR metformin is no longer working as my levels are often in the 20s. This morning I woke to blood sugar in the 16 and 3 hours after 2 weetabix and a splash of milk...

    Ongoing Metformin Side Affects

My old doctor was brilliant, this new one I’m not impressed with, maybe I’m just being a bit harsh on him with the pandemic. He gave me no indication of what my diet should be, he did ask about passing blood etc but if I’m honest he was a bit rude about me weight. I am overweight but since...

Meter has arrived... Understanding readings and what next.

Hi, Inhale recently been where you are, I had great control for almost 18 months and last summer slipped. When I realised what was happening my readings were in the 20’s and like you I don’t want it to get to the point where you lose a limb or worse. Trying to go cold turkey is really hard but...

    Ongoing Metformin Side Affects

The problem is it can be really intermittent I could go weeks between suffering again. If I am out with work I tend not to take my metformin on the morning just in case. This is not ideal but works for me. I may have to do some testing with and without and see what happens, it’s nice to know...

    Ongoing Metformin Side Affects

He believes that any side affects are short lived and it’s my diet that causes these bouts of diarrhoea. I’m trying to find out if people still continue to suffer with occasional diarrhoea even on the slow release. It’s not bad enough to affect my day to day life and sometimes it can go months...

    Ongoing Metformin Side Affects

Hi, When I was out on metformin my stomach could cope as I suffered regular diarrhoea. I was switched to slow release and that for the most part is ok but still suffer with occasional bouts of diarrhoea. It’s always the same aggressive type just after eating and is similar to when I was on...

    Slow release metformin

Hi, Sorry the not so nice post but I’ve been on slow release for a few years because the normal stuff didn’t agree with me. The slow release is t as bad but for some reason every 2 weeks or so I suffer with loose stools straight after eating. It always lasts for a day or so and seems to be...

    Back to square 1

Thanks everyone for the replies that has helped a lot. Some great suggestions that I would never have thought of. Moving forward I need to plan ahead and be a lot stricter with my diet. Switching back to a strict low carb diet again has made me feel so much better. Just need to start thinking...

    Back to square 1

Thanks for all the ideas, I’m going to be honest there are some ingredients in there I have never heard of [emoji5] I don’t mind Greek yogurt and love berries so that’s a great option especially in the warm weather. Now this might sound a stupid but I spent a lot of time driving to and from...

    Back to square 1

I’ve been type 2 for a few years now and finally settled on a diet where I can control my sugar levels and have seen my h1 drop. Recently I have been feeling a little off and tired all the time so I have started testing again and have found my blood sugars are really high again 20+. I have...

    I need help

If we ignore Christmas Day as I would rather forget that, to be fair it wasn’t bad food wise but I consumed to much alcohol, a bottle and half of red wine and whiskey. Boxing Day i was hung over and very tired so a few crackers with cheese, grapes and some cooked turkey. Yesterday I skipped...

    I need help

I have been type 2 for a few years now and currently receive slow release metformin 500mg twice a day. I have changed my diet but still heavily overweight but it’s slowly coming off. I had my h1 in September and it had reduced from 90 to 65mmol so heading in the right direction. I had a bit of a...

    Slow rise after eating

Ok, I am going to be honest and have in recent months got very stupid and went back to eating stupid foods and obviously my blood sugars spiked. Coronavirus

I thought it was just me, I have had to miss my diabetes checkup because my daughter had a temperature so we have already isolated. I really needed the checkup because I am losing control of my sugar levels, low carb and metformin is no longer working I fear.
