Low Blood Sugars With Nothing to Treat

Happened to me a few months prior my diagnosis, when I was in the US. Guess I was pre-diabetic back then. I was under extreme amounts of stress, and started binge eating to deal with a failing marriage in a land far away from home. One particular morning my wife and I had to fly from one city...

Did I accidentally inject Lantus into a vein

I never checked it specifically. I used the following method to calculate it: TDD = Body weight (in lbs.) x 0.25 (or) Body weight (in Kg.) x 0.55 My TDD is 21 and I take a total of 15 units of fast acting-, and 7 units long acting insulin. I'll update this post after finishing the rest of the...

Did I accidentally inject Lantus into a vein

Yes. When I eat my chicken and rice for lunch it is roughly 80 g of carbs. So I'd need 8 units, but I only give 4 or 5 (mostly 4). Why? Because I feel sick otherwise and gives me hypo. On the other hand: found out that I'm already using the smallest needle there is. :inpain:

Did I accidentally inject Lantus into a vein

Example: I wake up with a level of 5.5 and give myself 7-8 units and proceed to eat homemade gluten free, sugar free, CARB counted sandwiches with salamis. 2 hours afterwards I could be 10+, but then by 3 hours I feel severely hungry so I have a little kiwi or strawberry or blueberry mix while...

Did I accidentally inject Lantus into a vein

Thank you! The problem I have is that e.g. I inject, then nothing happens up until 3 or 3&1/2 hours where I have a sudden hypo. I can just feel that the insulin is not working because I feel dehydrated all along, and then boom! If I try to counter-attack the hypo with a small carb source, then...

Did I accidentally inject Lantus into a vein

Hi! Thanks for mentioning this. I don't know what Lantus is. We use Insuman rapid and Insuman basal in my country. The article is spot on with the acidity. Sometimes it burns like hell. And it's not the long acting, but the fast acting insulin that gives me trouble. It's unpredictable and...

Did I accidentally inject Lantus into a vein

I do this all the time and been having hypos everyday for the past one year. I often inject into the veins in my belly, but nobody told me I shouldn't?!? :( Belly is the most reasonable place for me because it's full of fat, but still blood gushes out all the time. And another curse (or...

Fasting-Mimicking Diet Promotes Ngn3-Driven β-Cell Regeneration to Reverse Diabetes

Apparently Metformin is an mTor inhibitor in itself. AFAIK, PAK inhibtors are in clinical trials and mainly intended to be anti-cancer drugs.

Fasting-Mimicking Diet Promotes Ngn3-Driven β-Cell Regeneration to Reverse Diabetes

Here is the article: link And here is the peer-reviewed journal: link To summarize it: - FMD (fasting mimicking diet) first reduces β-cell number, but then it returns to normal levels after re-feeding, "suggesting an in vivo lineage reprogramming." - FMD as a low protein, low sugar cyclic...

    Milk and Type 1

I tried several dietary modifications following the first year after my diagnosis. My sugar was lingering around 18-19 (27 without insulin) and I was happy to have it between 14 or 15 on some days. After cutting out milk (cold turkey), I started to see numbers below 10, and my A1C went from 13...

    Does T1D have a brain?

How silly that I thought that all the protein in cheese and ham counteracts the carbs in the dough.... little did I know it is the "pizza effect". Since then I had my evening snack and gave higher units than usual, but now I'm a solid 12 and starting to have that weird taste in my mouth. On the...

    Does T1D have a brain?

"If you are taking insulin, the pizza effect is an even bigger deal. You might inject insulin to cover the first 1–2 hours after your meal, but the carbohydrate in the meal will not be in your blood yet. So you might go low. Then a couple of hours later when the glucose kicks in, the insulin...

    Does T1D have a brain?

It's like a **** if you do, and **** if you don't situation. I'm scared to go off my strict diet now because I work a job that compares to building a house of cards, and if I go high, then I become clumsy and may have to start everything all over, even if I'm almost done with my shift.

    Does T1D have a brain?

Because it sure feels like it! I keep a strict diet, but once every month or every two months, I order myself a pizza. The past two times (prior to this one) I had X levels, and gave X units of insulin. Not 2 hours passed by, and I was under 5. Weird. The very same thing happened in December...

    First hypo

I'm dealing with this every single day. In the beginning it was low.... I was having the most stressful period of my life. But that is dealt with for now, and the past few months I felt hypos that turned out to be hyper. Few days ago I was below 3.0 and felt the same way as when hyper. I can...

    Type 1 and Marital problems

Happy New Year! I stopped being a night owl and reverted my cyrcadian rythm. As a result I have more energy during the day and my levels are a bit lower. Now I can stay below 10, but usually go up to 12 in the evening/night... but that is not the problem. The hypoglycemia monster reared it's...

Type 1: My BG Increased Significantly

Hi! I was diagnosed almost a year before prior to you. It's a learning process. I made the same mistake not so long ago. I ate just one cheese scone and was shocked how much it sky rocketed my BS. I could eat a whole pizza and have lower results than eating that cheese scone. Now I make sure I...

    Type 1 and Marital problems

It was flushing niacin for me. Even the smallest dosage makes me flush. People usually take 10x more than I do. I always end up looking like this for 3-4 weeks: http://healthhq.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/psoriasis-face.png I now look at all food- and supplement labels and if it has added...

    Type 1 and Marital problems

Sorry for not getting back for a few days. I wanted to get in the habit of exercising again. Decided to cut my hair and found out that almost the whole of the back of my head is covered with thick psoriasis plaque. Been itching there for well over a year. It looks just as bad as the person's in...

    Type 1 and Marital problems

Please do! I'm open to all suggestions. :angelic: That is correct. She misses me a lot and due to the frustration of the current situation, she puts all her anger out on me. But I understand her somewhere. That's why I welcome any suggestions.... for example. How to tackle a situation where I...
