Type 2 No carb or low carb?

I was in the same position just a couple of months ago - I've been type 2 diabetic for 13 years but because I couldn't tolerate metformin any more I've gone on to a basal insulin injection - one every 24 hours. Because of this I changed to a community diabetic nurse and she mentioned carbs. I...

    Testing after meals

Hi TooManyCrisps. Is the app for iPads/phones or is it android. I've looked for it and couldn't identify it, can you help please? I've ordered the book already - a bit of light bedtime reading, but it sounds as though the app will be very useful to have with me. Thanks

    Too many colds! Help

Try Berocca, it helped my husband when his system was low. I agree about zinc and also found selenium helpful. Can't remember exactly what Berocca has in it. Hope you come right soon.

    Testing after meals

I really can't count carbs for every meal so I do an odd day here and there to check I am getting it roughly right. The highest carb intake for a day was 93.5 - and I'm pretty sure it was the corn on the cob which sent it up to 8.1. Generally when this happens I go up to a max of 8.4, so...

    Testing after meals

I am finding that if I test after two hours might BG is often a bit high, whereas after three hours I am back within target range. Does this matter? Doc says no, but I would like to be reassured by your expertise fellow diabetics. Just like to say this forum has transformed the way I feel and...

    Lantus + Gliclazide

Just been to the docs, he has reduced the Gliclazide in the evenings from two to one, to try to improve my BG readings at bedtime. It will be interesting to see what effect it has. Thanks for your advice everyone. Really appreciated.

    Lantus + Gliclazide

Hi yes, on Forxiga and Gliclazide as well as the 1 X 24 hour Lantus. My understanding, which is patchy at best, is that the Lantus provides the baseline and the Gliclazide supplies what I need through the day. I haven't had a hypo yet - and hope not to! I have been limiting carbs for just a...

    Lantus + Gliclazide

I recently switched having my Lantus to 6pm as it was running out of steam and couldn't cope with the dawn phenomenon when I had it in the morning. I have also reduced my carb intake to between 50 and 75g per day. I am getting great control during the day, between 5 and 7, but my bedtime...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.6 this morning - amazing difference it has made changing my 24 hourly insulin to an evening injection. Haven't gone completely low carb but have cut out bread, potato and rice etc. But did have a bit of sugar sweetened stewed vanilla plums and ice cream last night and have still come in...

    Metformin Misery

I was on metformin and then glucophage for a number of years and was told my bowel problems was IBS! Tried everything to get control of my bowels but towards the end I couldn't safely walk a mile to work without worrying whether I would make it without an accident! With a big trip planned I...

    Forxiga

I have been taking Forxiga for about 4 months now, and haven't experienced any problems. Well done, not only for the weight loss, but for keeping it off - that's fantastic.
