"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Crispbread with Dairylea cheese slices (sandwiched) for breakfast with a cup of tea. Too sore to move much and that was easiest to do. If I'm able, I shall have salmon with salad for 2nd meal.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Started off with 8.3 on the edge of my bed at 04.20 today, down to 7.1 by the time I got to the kitchen but up into the 9's on the strength of a cup of tea and basal insulin. However, it was down to 4.4 an hour later but breakfast brought it back up to 8.1 just now, despite a bolus dose. No...

Rant about diabetes review/ GP surgery madness

Never heard of a PPG but I just looked it up to find one near us. The nearest is on the Isle of Harris, which can be reached by road from the Isle of Lewis, if you have a car and a few hours to spare. Not at all sure that our Stornoway practices have anything to do with them.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.7 at 03.25 today. Leg bandaging day today, so it's a fairly early start. Walking is being a bit difficult today, but I will manage to get to the car, however long it takes me. Just hope the car starts - it's sat in the cold since last Thursday but it'll be OK - Neil carries a spare battery...

3 eggs scrambled in butter for breakfast. There's still some beef mince left, so that will be the 2nd meal today. Leg bandaging day today so it's a busy morning. That's why I had breakfast early today. Neil will be doing the shopping for me - just hope the car will start since it's been sat...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Sorry to hear Mrs L is suffering another infection and is in hospital. It's hard on her, but I suspect, harder still on you. Let's hope she recovers quickly and gets home again soon.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

9.5 at 04.15 today and didn't drop far before breakfast - still in the 9's. However, the very wrong breakfast I decided to have (just a pile of cheesey crackers) seems to have helped as BG has dropped to 4.9. That was fairly early this morning and I obviously forgot to press the "Post" button...

"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

Really didn't fancy anything for breakfast so just had a few cheesey crackers. They are tiny but very delicious, so once started I found it hard to stop. There was some soup, made yesterday with lots of end of week veg but my insides are currently reminding me that too much veg isn't welcome...

Egg Fu Yung for breakfast with some mushrooms and a few bits of broccoli - just to use them up. 2nd meal will be some more of the mince topped with mashed butternut squash to make something like cottage pie. We're approaching shopping day (Neil has decided not to go today - the list so far is...

Oh Gennepher, what an awful day you had. Love the horse, by the way. Something very special there. Actually, it worries me that these techie systems seem to work so badly and all the while, we are being forced to rely on them more and more. I've noticed that a few of the websites I use have...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

It would be hard to say no. It's only once in a while, after all. Not rebelling once in a while would make Alf a dull boy.

When I finally remembered to have it, Breakfast was the last of the corned beef on some more crispbreads. that amount to just less than 30 grams carbs, for which I took 20 units of insulin. BG is around 6 now, so it was about the right amount. 2nd meal will be spiced beef mince with tomato...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.2 at 03.25 today. Still in the 7's, so not too bad. I've just realised that I forgot about breakfast (got involved in family history again). Better go and sort that out.

Should also say that despite all this, our telephone was put onto an internet connection rather than the landline it was on so has never worked properly since. We've had to buy basic mobile phones to make sure we always have an emergency line and one that a lot of online services now use...

Breakfast: corned beef with crispbread and cucumber. 2nd meal will be pork chop with broccoli. Plenty of tea throughout the day must be had. Still finding it difficult to get enough fluids in - it would help if I didn't keep falling asleep during the day so there are long spells between...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.5 at 03.45 today. We're trying to sort out a new ISP for when my BT contract runs out later this month. With BT we've been paying for a service for the last 2 years which was based on having a fibre connection, which we don't have. We didn't realise until quite recently that this was the...

Breakfast - about 12.30 was yoghurt with a few raspberries crushed and stirred through. Tea (of course). 2nd meal will be lamb steak with salad. Food was provided at the Conference yesterday. I didn't expect to see anything even vaguely suitable and so had a large breakfast. At the break I...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you, Gennepher. Yes, today is even more of a rest day than usual. Probably more painkillers than usual as well. You deal with these kind of difficulties, on your own, much better, and more often, than I do. At least I had some, much appreciated, help.

The conference went pretty well despite a last minute change of plan. The slide show provided by my friend didn't work on the College equipment so it was a bit ad lib. Seemed OK though. The venue wasn't entirely suitable - at least not for someone in a wheelchair. First we went to the main...

Sausage casserole it was, for breakfast - about 10 am. Then just time for my pills and some water before my friend arrived to pick me up. I took some Jacob's mixed seed crackers with me to have in case my BG dropped too low. Food was being supplied but I was pretty sure none of it would be...
