    Not coping

I definitely agree that chocolate is an addiction. I've been struggling with it even before diagnosis. I too am constantly thinking of chocolate and when/where I'll get my next fix. I also suffer with thrush but I know it's a side effect of canafliglozin which I take along with metformin. Yep...

    Help and Advice needed Please

Hi AstroAl. I'm not too good at times and sometimes have readings around 13. I tend to just cut out carbs completely that day and it usually returns to a normal level by the next day. Exercise helps bring it down too but not sure that's a good idea for you if you're already breathless. Sorry I...

    Lucozade petition

Not sure where to post this but was sent a link by another diabetic friend for a petition to bring back the old lucozade. Thought I'd share it in case anyone on here wishes to sign it https://www.change.org/p/lucozade-energy-lucozade-to-bring-back-the-old-recipe Hope the link works

Canafliglozin side effects.......a question for the ladies on here

I've been taking canafliglozin for quite a while now. Had repeated bouts of thrush in the beginning (a known side effect) but now under control most of the time. Got hba1c down from 88 to 64 so it seems to be working. I have another female problem though. I'm on the contraceptive tablet where...

    Hypos and lucozade

My dad is T2 on insulin. He always uses lucozade to treat hypos. Was at hospital today and seen posters stating that lucozade have reduced their carb content and are not as good now for treating hypos. He had been wondering why he was having to take more than normal recently in order to treat...

    Problems with Accu-chek mobile

Thanks for your replies. Had to remove protective strip from batteries before first use so I'm assuming that can't be the problem. Had the machine at room temperature all day today and still not working. I've emailed the company and will await their reply. Glad everyone else is happy with theirs...

    Problems with Accu-chek mobile

Well I received my nice new fancy meter (free trial) yesterday and was very impressed with the look and style. Was also looking forward to being able to test without the messing around with strips. It was going to be so much more simpler and modern.........but it didn't take long for my opinion...

    Meters which is best

Hi AM1874, I was looking at the link for the free tee2 meter but it doesn't say if strips are provided with it. Am I best to order strips at the same time or did you get some strips with the meter?

    Meters which is best

Hi Prem51, I'm currently using the sd codefree but thinking it's now in need of replacing. Would be interested to hear how the tee2 meter performs.

How often do you replace your SD codefree meter?

Well, turns out it was my strips! Got new ones today. Tested with old strip 9.5 and new strip immediately afterwards was 5.8. So, I'm very happy.......numbers are a lot better than I thought and I don't need to fork out for a new meter just yet.

How often do you replace your SD codefree meter?

I've recently tried getting back on track and been really good for over a week now but my numbers are still high. My dad is on insulin and therefore has a decent meter so I decided to try his. Reading was 9.1 on my sd codefree and 6.8 on his meter.......so I've been panicking all week for...

    Head in the sand syndrome

Thank you so much for sharing your story Darren. It's really awful what has happened to you. I guess I and probably many others on here are guilty of reading about amputations etc in magazines and newspapers and believe "that will never happen to me". But reading it on here from a genuine person...

    Head in the sand syndrome

You're so right @MaxRebo001. I guess I'm very impatient and if I don't see quick results then I don't see the point and revert back to my old ways. I've been binge eating tonight on fruit(never thought I'd say that lol) as I never bought any chocolate or biscuits this weekend when I did my...

    Head in the sand syndrome

Thanks dipsydo. Maybe soup was a bad idea but I've made a huge pot to last all week lol. My fruit has been apples, bananas and clementines. I realise they are higher in carbs than berries but are healthier than chocolate. My mentality is if chocolate has same amount of carbs then I'm as well...

    Head in the sand syndrome

I used to use my fitness pal but felt it was geared more to calories rather than carbs so I gave up with it. I just use paper and pen now

    Head in the sand syndrome

Thanks @comfort. I'm glad my thread has helped you. It's been a really great support to me. Everyone on here is so kind and helpful. I started off with good intentions after reading all the comments. I've had no chocolate since Wednesday (a record for me). I've been really trying to watch what...

    Head in the sand syndrome

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like cream lol. But nuts and seeds are good ideas. Thanks. I'm struggling with breakfast ideas as I don't like eggs either.......unless hard boiled with toast, which defeats the purpose.

I thought honey would be a definite no........and the Greek yoghurt on it's own is horrible. I must try that. Thank you
