    PCOS & Type 2

Hi. I have hormonal insulin resistant PCOS. I use low carb diet to control mine. My endocrinologist has advised against medication for insulin resistance as in the long run the risk of developing the need for insulin injections and other complications is very high. Here if you need to talk. I'm...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Breakfast was tea with skim milk no sugar and a digestive biscuit. Lunch was 2 rashers of bacon and 1/4 tin sausages and spaghetti. Snack of half a packet of ready salted French fries. Now off for a mile walk before my chocolate feast with my girl guides at 6pm. Dinner is yet to be decided.

    unwell

I have a rare surname and hubby and mum in law used to work at the local hospital. So every time I need to see someone I get seen very quickly. GP practice is the same as they know us and know I wouldn't go if it could be sorted out at home.

    Sweets for hypo

A glass of milk and 2 plain digestive works for me. The dog also has some if she has alerted me to being hypo it's her reward.

    Reactions to diabetes...

Much the same as me. Mine often said she would rather have gone to prison for murder than raising me. So lucky I have an amazing husband and mum in law. One or both of them will come to any appointment I ask them to without an issue. I've learnt to be strong enough to cope on my own regardless...

    Reactions to diabetes...

She said she hated me so much she hoped it was serious and I'd die!! Needless to say we now have no contact. Deep down I think she knew I had it and hoped I'd end up in ketone coma and die. Its genetic and I can't have children she would have likely been told the same.

    Reactions to diabetes...

I'm insulin resistant and fortunate my M-I-L is type two. We share recipes and help each other through the hard times. My biological mother on the other hand knew that something was wrong with me aged 12 but refused to get me checked out. Took until I moved out in my early 20's and wondered why...

    Thailand and type 2

Sure!! I went to America and all my prescribed medication said Lauren K Lane and my passport said Lauren Kate Lane. My medication got destroyed because it didn't match my passport despite having all paperwork from GP. My suitcases in the hold were also searched and medication taken from there...

    Disposing of lancets etc

I use recapping safety lancets and dispose of them and test strips in household waste. I carry a film pot when out and put in there and empty when at home.

    Need help from ladies please!!

Lauren, can you give us an example of your blood sugar readings? You should not be experiencing true hypos as you are not on medication that would cause it, if your levels have been running very high for a while it could be false hypos, which feel pretty awful but aren't dangerous at all - just...

    Need help from ladies please!!

Average reading is 4.8. This is low enough for me to hypo. Its true hypo as can taste pear drops and my breath stinks of them. My hubby is a nurse BTW and observed me having them. Just not so good at ladies things. Usually around 5.5 is where I run without an issue. Many thanks
