Dog walking followed by 30mins of splashing about in the pool, pretending to do some serious swimming. On the plus side I did master a pretty speedy doggy paddle. Good grief I sound like a ten year old!

Husband newly diagnosed, wife at wits end!

Hi Gingerbear1977, Your story sounds familiar - my husband was diagnosed T1 at 43 - three years ago now. Whilst your husband gets his head around the emotional side of diagnosis, try to help with regards to diet. If he is regularly running high, just make sure there is plenty of protein/fat...

I'm back from my first meeting with the Diabetic Nurse

Marieukxx, If you haven't already read it, make sure you take a look at this.http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/new-research-on-the-low-carb-diet-in-general-practice.53261/page-16#post-559500 . Can this be related to diabetes? Women only please.

Ahhh, Hang on a second, didn't you say you had been feeling hot all of the time? Try googling peri-menopause. It would be early to start at 35, but it can happen. Worth speaking to the doc about, just to get that checked out.

Gl Glad it's improving sanguine. Voltarol cream works well (just in case you haven't tried it). Bx

I've got the perfect exercise! Fill two large bottles of water and leave to chill in the fridge. After approximately one hour return to said fridge, thrust wide the door, take a bottle in each hand and lift in an upward motion. Repeat for as many times as you are able.:p:joyful:X

Two lots of dog walks - not a great day folks. I did manage a 35 second plank, and also did 10 burpees (are they called that because they can make you prone to flatulence?) I now have a cricked neck from doing some over-zealous hedge trimming yesterday. I am hoping that a good night's sleep...

They're not voluntary, we get guilted into doing them 'cos they're supposed to be good for you - only @sanguine has already put his back out, and @zand has lost the will to do more than 10 minute walking. I've got a cricked neck from hedge trimming, so I will have to rest my head on a cushion...

Fat burning, carb burning, false hypo?

Lol! You sound like my hubby - it doesn't seem that long ago that he came in beaming from a ride only to declare he had made the last killer hill on our training circuit entirely in the big ring! Men!:joyful:

Fat burning, carb burning, false hypo?

With regards to low carb exercise/training, I thought you may find this interesting - particularly with your reference (@LittleGreyCat) to eating carbs during exercise and keto-adaption. http://eatingacademy.com/sports-and-nutrition/ketones-carbohydrates-can-co-exist

Fat burning, carb burning, false hypo?

I think the 'granny gear' tip is one from riders who are used to cycling long endurance rides. A friends who used to ride with Team Novo Nordisk was clear that using a high gear on a hill is a bad idea - not only because it puts stress on your joints but also because it's easy to 'blow your...

Improve your HbA1c in 3 minutes

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! :joyful: You and me both @sanguine ! I managed a feeble 35 seconds planking today, up from the paltry 33 seconds yesterday!

    Cycling T1 ...

Great advice from @ElyDave there. To reiterate some things - getting your basal right will really help. Also obviously exercise as far between meals as you can. Some find that eating a lower carb diet also helps (generally because you have less insulin on board) Specifically addressing your...
