Type 1s - Does anyone increase bolus for exercise?

Eeek - that's a pretty erratic waking BG, were you able to understand why you got the results you did though? If not, it sounds like you would benefit from a trial on CGM (continuous glucose monitor) - it would help enormously with refining your insulin requirements with exercise too. It is...

Type 1s - Does anyone increase bolus for exercise?

Hi Phoenix, @brett and @noblehead , Thanks for your input - particularly with regards to your own experience of BG rise when you have an empty stomach, or first thing in the morning. I have heard of many who much like @ElyDave don't suffer with this phenomenon, so it's useful to hear when...

High bloods, low carb diet, still no control

Hi crystal lady, Great things seem to be moving forward with regards to getting you blood glucose under control. Have you thought of asking to have a trial on CGM (continuous glucose monitor) for a week or so, and run it in conjunction with keeping a food and exercise diary? It would provide a...

Type 1s - Does anyone increase bolus for exercise?

Hi there, Already a fan of Peter Attia! Just a quick question, do you follow a fairly low carb diet? A collegue of mine found that by reducing the amount of carb in their diet seemed to have a knock-on effect of reducing this over-zealous response by the liver after exercise. It took a week or...

    Bad leg cramsps at night

Electrolytes - sodium, magnesium and potassium can all be a cause of muscle cramps if deficient in the body. Just make sure you're keeping your levels topped up. Both magnesium and potassium are found in high levels in spinach.:D

    Running and Blood Sugar Levels

Great way to do it Graham3551!:) When you exercise, GLUT4 transporters are mobilised in your muscles. These little gems are able to transport glucose into the muscles without the need for insulin. The GLUT4 receptors remain in greater numbers and are ready to transport glucose across the muscle...

    Running and Blood Sugar Levels

Hi hazel, Great you enjoy keeping fit! Have you thought of joining TeamBG for a ride this Sunday at Box Hill? I just need to correct something that appears to factually incorrect in your advice - as far as I am aware, muscles don't 'dump' glucose back into the bloodstream at any point (please...
