    Insulin Types

I agree that I think what you are experiencing is related to your exercise. You can have minimal to practically zero circulating insulin and experience a fairly rapid fall in BGs. This is related to enhanced insulin sensitivity (it's actually a bit misleading to call it this because it's...

That's interesting - I've not heard of that strategy for covering large distances.:)

Exercise - surprising and exciting information

Hi there, Well logically what this research implies is that just by varying your pace you will achieve better results than just maintaining a moderate pace. This particular plan combines 3min fast walking with 3min slow. You may not be able to maintain 3min fast pace on a bike, so just do say 20...

This 8 week 800 calorie a day thing

Hi @Jamrox, Apologies - I haven't read through this entire thread but hopefully I've got the gist of it. Weight loss is going to be easier with exercise and if you're not able to get out and about, how about using all those major muscle groups in your tummy and arms and just start fitting in...

    Winter Keepy Uppies Type 2.

Hi @Jamrox, Great to see you all keeping up the activity levels! I'm sorry to hear about your knee. Best nurse that better before trying out a sprint on the bike! I'm keeping up with running around the country lanes here too - with these strong winds I feel as though I have spent as much time...

    Regular moderate exercise log

Hi all, Sorry for butting in here, but I thought I would just make you aware of a thread I posted earlier on today about exercise intensity and fitness. http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/exercise-surprising-and-exciting-information.92345/#post-1057205 Basically I spotted a study in which...

    Tough Mudder??

Have you taken a look at www.teambloodglucose.com? You might want to consider joining the Sporty Type 1's Facebook group and posting the question there too. I've seen people talking about Tough Mudder there before. Also, for advice on everything and anything (including the tech you're talking...

    Winter Keepy Uppies Type 2.

Hey there @ladybird64, I've just been reading your exploits and boy you're certainly going for it!! @Pipp is right though to say don't overdo it. Just so that you know, I posted a thread earlier about some research that demonstrated that by walking 3 mins at a fast pace, then 3 mins recovering...

Exercise - surprising and exciting information

I have been doing some more research for TeamBG (www.teambloodglucose.com) recently around using exercise to manage Type 2 diabetes. We all know that in theory it's a good thing, (I'm currently putting together a video to explain exactly why and how exercise helps manage blood glucose control)...

    Rising blood sugars whilst exercising

Hi there, Apologies I haven't replied sooner - I've only just spotted your post. It sounds as though you already have an excellent understanding of the body's mechanics - that's great that you've taken time to try to understand what goes on in the body with exercise. I'm not sure I'm any more...

    Rising blood sugars whilst exercising

Hi @MISTY10 I know some people cope with post exercise liver glucose release (gluconeogenesis) by upping their insulin after they finish. Another way you can curb the rise is to do a more drawn out cool-down after a run. The heart rate needs to be lowered enough for the body to stop the...

    Monitoring BG while training?

Great start! You're certainly up for a challenge aiming for a 100k Ultra so soon after diagnosis. All power to you! Attached is a movie you might find useful. Also, if you haven't already, consider joining the Sporty Type 1's Team Blood Glucose Facebook group (www.teambloodglucose.com)...

    Winter Keepy Uppies Type 2.

Hey there! Always up for a challenge - and a great idea to keepy uppy exercise over Winter. I did my morning jog - only a short one, because I was dragging the dogs along but we did a speedy sprint back along our top road to finish.

14 year old son seems to be showing first signs of finding it all to much !!

Hey there, Ask your son to take a look at www.teambloodglucose.com - and consider joining the Sporty Diabetic Type 1's Facebook group. Sport and diabetes can work together - it's just a case of understanding how the body behaves with activity. Diabetes certainly doesn't have to hold your son...

There you go - sounds to me as though you've pretty well got things figured out. We can't be perfect all the time. ;)

    Dropping considerably quick

You were high at 2.40pm - was that a post-prandial high? and if so, had you already bolused for what you had eaten? Guesswork here, but it sounds as though you might have over-corrected and some of the earlier 'high' had already been accounted for. Don't panic! Chocolate biscuits aren't the best...
