    Type 1 Libre

Thanks, I can and have read the CCG criteria before, no need to be patronizing. But when they put their justification its not "this person is testing 8 times a day" or "this person is having hypos". Its by issuing the libre they will reduce by x amount of strips or x frequency of hypos. As in...

    Type 1 Libre

Very strange, I didn't have any issues whatsoever and only had an appointment a few weeks ago where many people left with libre bags. Was it Saint James' hospital you attend?

    Type 1 Libre

I believe the criteria is more along the lines of a reduction in use of blood glucose test strips by at least 8 a day using the libre, rather than you need to be testing 8 times a day. So if you only test 8 times a day, you may not be eligible as the chances of you not measuring at all each day...

    New to diabetes

As I saw on twitter the other day, you can only see the stars in the dark... May seem like a lot to take on board, but its probably better they haven't given you much info, you can learn what is best yourself with the help of this forum and low carb. You would rather figure out what works for...

    Type 1 Libre

How long ago was that? I went and had no issues at all, I met the criteria of testing more than 10x a day and/or hypos during exercise. I got it prescribed end of last year, but I didn't go to the consultant, I went to the DSN.

    Type 1 Libre

As above you have to meet CCG requirements. But in Leeds they seem to be handing them out left, right and center. Every person I saw going in/out in at my last appointment had a freestyle goody bag.

    Type 2 Travelling with Insulin

I travelled to the middle east (very hot). Bought the travel bag to keep everything in one place. Then bought various sized pouches to store pens and insulin in them. (Do not get the frio wrap style - maybe discontinued now - but its pointless as you can't wrap it once its filled with water)...

Type 1 I want to give up

I'm not going to lie, as well controlled as my diabetes is after living with it for nearly 20 years. There's days where I get down, I get the odd day with blood sugars like you, but its about understanding what's causing these and then rectifying it. Remember don't let negativity breed, as...

    Tresiba peaks

I've found that taking FIASP or novorapid in the legs compared to stomach or arms, causes me to go low, many hours after injecting. For example if I eat and inject at 7pm and levels are steady before I goto bed around 11pm, I can have a hypo at 2am. I know legs are slower absorption anyway, but...

    Fiasp side effects?

Would novorapid not have the same side effects? as they are essentially the same, but FIASP has two additives for faster absorption. It could be the additives which cause issues, but I've not seen that anywhere.

    Diabetes and Sleep Disorder

As above, it only really affects my sleep if its low. Even if its high I can generally sleep well but will get up thirsty and feel groggy. I found exercise to help a lot, as I'm generally more tired. But the thing that has helped me the most is having a consistent routine, I generally go to bed...

    Fiasp side effects?

I've been using it since November last year, switched from novorapid. No issues for me, but I do keep very active, no infections etc. But certain people react differently to medication, hence the side effects may be rare, you should probably discuss further with GP's or consultants to identify...

    Kite insulin patch

Yes I agree, doesn't seem to offer as much as it seemed to in the article. Just an intermediate for injections.

    Kite insulin patch

Actually found a document on how it works more. Available here: https://www.cambridgeconsultants.com/insights/kite-smart-insulin-injection-port-concept Actually just seems like an insertion port, a canulla into the body which stays for a week, you then inject insulin into the port which...

    Kite insulin patch

Wondered if anybody had heard of this device or had more info on it, seems like its still under development since last year and we could potentially see it in 2020. Seems really intruiging. https://ifworlddesignguide.com/entry/234687-kite-smart-insulin-port...

Went into hypo from drinking alcohol..

Alcohol isn't just harmful to diabetics, but that's another discussion. Alcohol can cause delayed hypo's so if you drank at night for example it could drop your glucose levels several hours later. Don't think it is the case with all types but its up to you whether the risk is worth it. I'm sure...

Newly diagnosed with type 1 [emoji20]

Don't worry it will only get better. Aches and pains can be as a result of what you have experienced, but these will hopefully go away as better control is achieved. Novorapid (bolus) insulin and Toujeou (basal) insulin are common insulin's which a lot of people use. Generally novorapid is used...

Type 1 Am I taking a lot of insulin??? Type 1

The right amount, is the amount YOU need to stay in range. As above, depends on many factors such as type of diet, insulin resistance, exercise etc.

Newly diagnosed with type 1 [emoji20]

Welcome to the forum, you really couldn't have come to a better online forum to discuss and learn from. I've been type 1 diabetic for going on 20 years, was diagnosed at 8, similarly by going into DKA. TBH I was too young to fully understand the implications of diabetes and my parents managed...

    XDrip+ v Glimp

So I decided to try out Xdrip+ after using Glimp for 6 months and thought I'd give others an idea of what pro's or cons I have found. Firstly my main reason for switching was to be able to use my smartwatch as a standalone reader with miaomiao and the libre, this I haven't actually done yet...
