    Causes of diabetes

Theres a whole range of factors that play a factor in how likely you are to develop diabetes, both type 1 and 2. Nobody has said food is the sole cause. Genetics have been shown to play a big part in the predisposition of developing diabetes. Nobody knows the exact reasoning for the mechanism...

    Freestyle Libre

Yes I agree heat may affect it, but through dehydration, not just the notion of body temperature increasing itself.

    Freestyle Libre

Thanks for clarifying. In that case either an android phone or a miaomiao would be the options.

    Freestyle Libre

Also you can use third party apps alongside the libre app, so you don't need to get rid of that - you will most likely need to keep it installed for activation of a new sensor anyway.

    Freestyle Libre

Yes, its basically an attachment which sticks on the libre, it then transmits data to the mobile via Bluetooth (similar to dexcom), then you don't have to scan it; and yes you have to wear it continuously, but if you do remove it or even with it on, you can still scan the libre with the reader...

    Freestyle Libre

Well I use Glimp and that is for android not iPhone, the principle in how it works will be similar, but I can't tell you the exact features of Spike for iPhone. Glimp app basically works the same as the libre app, however you can input actual meter readings into the app and it calibrates the...

    Freestyle Libre

Should that make a difference to blood glucose concentration? I'm not sure unless its outside the tolerance of the libre; may be more attributed to dehydration.

    Freestyle Libre

A lot of people experience this, after the initial day or so, accuracy within range is pretty good, above 8/9 its not generally great, similarly towards the end its not great. I use a third party app called Glimp (Android), it allows me to calibrate the sensor against my meter, and provides...

Starting pump therapy and I'm stuck

MDI's or multiple daily injections is not more likely to cause lipohypertrophy than canulla's, if the injection sites are rotated properly. If you constantly inject in the same fatty tissue or reuse needles etc, lipohypertrophy will definitely increase with MDI's. Im not sure about the insulin...

    Smartchwatch as standalone reader

Hi, If its the same watch I can ssee on amazon for £33, then I don't think that will work. That looks like a general fitness tracker watch and doesn't have android wear OS 2.0 on it. So you wouldn't be able to install the required apps let alone read the libre/MM. I think the cheapest Wear OS...

    Fiasp vs novorapid

I changed to FIASP and it made a world of difference to the spikes. Theres been many reports showing that post prandial levels and spikes in glucose have a large affect on hba1c in well controlled diabetics. So minimizing those spikes will definitely help. For me FIASP works quicker, much...

    Insulin storage in the fridge.

Unless its actually frozen and then melted, I don't believe going down to 0.5 degrees should cause your insulin to act erratically (especially given the normal range is 2-8 degrees for most insulin) so its not that far out. I may be wrong though.

Starting pump therapy and I'm stuck

Exactly, that's why I mentioned I personally never changed and these were the reasons. What is better for me isn't necessarily for others, but its better they get a rounded view on what advantages and disadvantages a pump can bring. For you it obviously works well, for me it doesn't. Even...

    Weight gain

I don't eat a restricted diet, I eat what I want in line with my nutritional needs for training. The main thing for wight loss or gain is controlled blood sugar levels. Get them right and the rest is no different to a non-diabetic. You need to manage your food with the required insulin, I assume...

Starting pump therapy and I'm stuck

I personally never changed to pumps for a number of reasons, these won't help you select which pump is right for you, but give you my opinion on why I never made the transition. Firstly, I like the freedom of MDI's I inject when I need to and apart from that I am not attached to anything. Its...

Is this just bad customer service

I'm not sure where you stand on this, But when I worked away a lot, I forgot my meter and strips, and bought a new one. Can't put a cost on my health.

    Type 1 Unexpected blood glucose

Hi, welcome to the forum. But this could be a whole host of reasons. Are you type 1 or 2? I assume 1 given the levels, but I could be wrong. Without knowing your complete history for the day, including medication, what you ate/when you ate, BS levels etc., it is very difficult for anyone to tell...
