Hi Rainbowbrite I am in a similar position to yourself following a positive anti Gad test. That was in January this year so I am slightly further down the road than you. Take each day at a time. It does get easier. I would recommend the Carbs & Cals book or App. I have found them both useful...

Type 2 Steroids and high blood sugar reading help

Hi there. Taking steroids will unfortunately raise your blood sugars and make them more difficult to manage. I have been on steroids for the past 18 months so have experienced this first hand. Hi Pambish I am in a similar situation to you in as much as I have been on prednisone now for over a year. Thankfully I am in the process of reducing it albeit slowly. I am also on Humulin I. I would suggest you speak with your DSN for some guidance. The way it was managed for me was not to...

    New to all this

Hope things go okay tomorrow. Your DSN will give you guidance on the number of units etc. Keep in regular touch with them for support. They will start you on low doses which will be adjusted depending on your bloods. Keep coming back here for advice and ask as many questions as you need.

    Possible LADA or MODY

Hi WhitcCat27 I was diagnosed as type 2 over 2 years ago. I have other autoimmune conditions and a family history of Type 1 diabetes. Due to the way I presented ( classic symptoms of weight loss about 15 kg, urinary frequency etc) I asked about the possibility of me having type 1 rather than...

    Insulin

Hi James1968 It does take time to find the right dose of insulin. They always err on the side of caution and take it slowly to prevent a rapid drop in blood sugar. Keep checking your blood sugars regularly and keep a note of them. Also keep in regular contact with your DSN

    three auto conditions

Hi Brian, There appears to be quite a few of us in this club. I have an underactive thyroid, rheumatoid arthritis and colitis. They are also now questioning whether I may have type 1 rather than type 2 diabetes. It does often happen that autoimmune conditions go together.

    T2 and insulin

Hi there. If going onto insulin is right for you it is not as bad a you think. However it it does sound that very long since your diagnosis. I would suggest you ask at your next appointment why this is being suggested. You can listen to all the info and then say you want some time to...
