Hi there, I can concur that I suffered from significant flatulance when on metformin. Speak with your doctor or DN about and hopefully you can get change d knot another drug.
Hope things improve soon
I too have an excellent team of DSN who provided advice and support when it is needed. As an ex nurse it is really heartening to hear poss things about nurse led support
I have been on steroids in some shape or form for some time. They do send your BG levels sky high for a while. The steroids certainly helped me in terms of pain relief. The effects on BG for me lasted for between 2 to 4 weeks
I hope you feel some benefit from them
I too was on this drug. It certainly did reduce my hb1ac. Unfortunately it caused GI problems for me and was stopped. The advice you have had in previous posts I would concur with. Certainly up your fluid intake. That helps protect against UTI
I have a Fitbit and use to monitor my steps daily and my heart rate when exercising I have had mine for a while I think the newer models do a lot more.
Several friends have them as well and we can become quite competitive regarding our daily step totals
Hi Jade
I was given a letter from my DSN which I took to the chemist and they gave me a sharps bin. I now take fills bins back to the chemist and swap it for an empty. It may work differently in your area.
Hope things are going ok since diagnosis
Thanks for that. The information on this injection aid suggested that it reduces
injection site bruising etc. I am experiencing a lot of bruising at injection sites and
wondered if this might help
I empathise. I was unable metformin or the SR version. Keep in regular contact with your nurse and doctor emphasising the effects the drug I said having on your husband.
Hope things improve soon
I have also this experience. Can I say it has not happened again.
I do not keep my meter in the car due to drops in temperatures and the effect it hasn't on the meter and testing strips
I have an excellent team of Diabetic Nurses who provide support. Much of the support is over the phone with some face to face. This support kicked in when I was commenced on insulin.
Two pieces of advice I was given was not to put insulin in the hold as the low temperatures there may deactivate insulin and make it unusable and to split my supplies with the person travelling with me so that I find either of our bags were lost I would not be without supplies
I recently...
Completed your questionnaire. The Question about how often you test was difficult to complete as I test 4 times a day. First thing in the morning, before lunch and tea and finally at bedtime. As I drive I also have to test every 2 hours DVLA guidance.
My meter is easy to use but is clumsy to...
I am also relatively new to insulin. I also started on once daily but have now progressed to long acting in the
morning and 3 lots of short acting with meals. There will be a lot of adjusting of doses. It will take time.
