the fabulous Dr Bernstein, a question though

Hi reetpetite, I love macadamias too :) Welcome to the forum and I am impressed that you have such good levels, it's taken me a few months to get my head around it all and just started hitting 5's. I had a 4.5 when I was away camping a last week but I think that was due to several glasses of...

    metformin, works or not

I am probably just repeating the above but if I had porridge for breakfast my levels would be around 12-14 from a waking level of 5.4. Tomatoes also have a big effect on my levels which I am happy about as I hate them but boiled potatoes are ok. Its a bit of trial and error really to see what...

    metformin

I don't ever remember having a metalic taste in my mouth but I did have the usual windiness which settled down after a few weeks. I also found it supressed my appetite but I liked that as I need to lose weight. That has also passed now which I am not happy about but hey overall I have found it a...

the fabulous Dr Bernstein, a question though

phew, thanks. I know that veg such as carrots have carbs in them so I was using them as part of my carb intake rather than bread, pasta etc so when I read that chapter I freaked. :D Will stay away from the parsnips then

the fabulous Dr Bernstein, a question though

I have eventually got round to buying the Dr Bernstein book and thought I would be doing everything I should on the low carb front. I was reading the what you can and can't eat bit of the book and discovered a 'no' list that included cottage cheese, milk, carrots and parsnips. I eat loads of...

    Life assurance.

yep, very true. I am in education so we are doing quite well out of the recession as everyone is signing up to re-train in things but even so we have been hit by redundancies...middle management at the mo but you never know :(

    Life assurance.

Well diabetes.uk have sorted me out with a quote for death within the next 10 years to cover my mortgage but they don't do redundance cover. They gave me a number of someone else but to be honest I would like just one payment covering everythig so back to the drawing board as I am more worried...

    Eat the rainbow!

Have to say both quiche and any form of cereal triple my BS levels. Are you able to try to eat protein for breakfast? Cottage cheese, cinammon and an apple is really nice and this is from the person who used to gag if I so much as lookaed at a tub of it

well on the plus side my mortgage is all through, which is impressively quick [2 weeks] and I got the cheque for the difference on the same day I got paid [oh the irony of that one]. Just need to sort out the life assurance now as i haven't heard from anyone from diabetes uk yet :(

LOW CARB DIET - A NEWBIES GUIDE

We had a wellbeing day at college yesterday and diabetes UK were there. I had a chat and she gave me a diet booklet after I told her I was low carbing and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with the booklet. It recommends low GI, which is a start :)

    Life assurance.

Thanks all, I have applied through diabetes UK and am waiting for someone to get in touch. I now also have the problem that a direct debit for £4 has come out early and knocked me over my overdraft limit by £1.97 now are they going to slap the charges on [I get paid tomorrow]. I feel yet another...

    Life assurance.

Oh indeed, although I am with a very dodgy company at the moment as I have a CCJ so I was surprised that they said my credit check was fine and that I am being fast-tracked through. Probably because of the huge amount of equity I have in my house as my credit check is not ok cos they turned me...

    Life assurance.

Hi Dennis, thanks for that information. I am a bit confused about the first bit [sorry I am dumb in the matters of all things financial] but I am not sure I fit into either of those 2 categories as I went to the branch to open a bank account and the finance adviser talked me into moving my...

    Life assurance.

Hi Thirsty, I tried to cancel my mortgage as the fees put me up to my overdraft limit and I was in major trouble last week as I only had a few quid until pay day. The guy I dealt with had said this wasn't a problem as he would be able to up my overdraft over its limit until the mortgage came...
