@chris9996 ....:hilarious:. Years ago I watched a film called Tom Jones, think it originated from a book by Henry Fielding, anyway...there was a scene which involved the lead character and one of the female stars eating fruit, think it was pears. It was the most messy, and sensuous sequence...

Having tried to wade through your other threads, and failing, I rather get the impression that words moreso than food are your passion! However, please don't think you are the only diabetic who has a passion for food.....Maybe it's time for you to set aside the longings you have for the old...

Diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis - a trade off

@Alanp35. I hope the cortisone injection soon gives you some relief from the pain you're in. It may push your BG up a bit but so does constant intense pain. Hobson's choice eh......maybe you could cut back on your carbs a little to compensate for the effect of the steroids? Take care. Geri :)

How often to people get hospital appointments?

Hi Emma :) It sounds like you've dropped off the radar! I think you need to get in touch with your gp and ask for him/her to get you a hospital clinic appointment asap. As a t2 id, I am seen at the hospital every six months.

    Peanuts

Your friend is right about flowers being involved. It's a legume, one of the pea family. After pollination the flower stalk grows, eventually bending over until the fertilized ovary touches the ground and buries itself underneath, where the nut develops, hence the name...Ground nut. I think...

    Diabetes diet question

@Unbeliever. I think low carbing will always be an issue because food manufacturers will fight tooth and nail to persuade us that we need a diet full of highly processed, chemical junk. I too wish more would vote....it doesn't involve much effort, not even many brain cells, lol. Apathy...

    smoking

I smoked since I was 16 (peer pressure at college) and apart from when I was pregnant and didn't smoke at all, I was on 30 a day. I went cold turkey out of sheer terror following a major heart attack in 2000. By then I'd been diabetic for 6 yrs. I don't know if it improved my BGs but it sure as...

    Good oils ?

Extra virgin olive oil for salad dressings and dips but for frying I use Coconut oil. Quite simply it is THE BEST! http://authoritynutrition.com/top-10-evidence-based-health-benefits-of-coconut-oil/ @AnnieC :) As Paul said, you misread info about oils on the other thread.

NHS VERY LOW CARB DIET GROUP

That's brilliant Jude! How wonderful to have such a forward thinking group close to home. I hope they publish their work so that others may follow and make this service more widely available. I'm T2, still insulin dep., but eat low carb, less than 30g and have also cut out all grains, these two...

    Pain in calves

It is not "rare"! Statins are the drug from hell for me and thousands of others. Not just calf pain... I ached all over, was continuously exhausted, nauseous, couldn't eat so lived on water. Frequent visits to various GPs and even one to A&E was put down to my age! This went on for three...

    Diabetes advice question ...

Twenty two years ago I was told to avoid anything containing sugar, but that didn't include starchy food such as potatoes, pasta, bread, fruit and veg. When I said I thought they contained sugar I was told "yes, but it's good sugar, so make sure you eat plenty".... confused.com!
