    Spiralling Health Problems

Good advice already offered so I'll just answer on the gallstones. I had my gallbladder removed less than 3 months after giving birth when I had just turned 22. I rolled the floor in pain many a night. They are very painful and can cause pain all over (pain can go up to the shoulder too) -...

    Really Depressed Today!

Big hug from me too EveryCloud. I'm not going to mention the diabetes, enough here to speak on that. Re the depression - I suggest you see your GP about tweaking your tablets. I've been there, done that, still wearing the t shirt. I smile as I read your profile name. Do what it says - you...

    Numbers confusing me

Thanks Nicole, I'll also read up on The Fat Emperor. I don't find it tough - I know I have to eat this way again for my health. I'm working as hard as I can - I've lost a stone in those 2 months as well.

    Numbers confusing me

Hi There is no Spoon, It is indeed NAFLD - I have never drunk alcohol and still don't. Have loads of weight to lose though. I'll watch that video shortly. I've cut the carbs right back - don't measure them - no bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, cereal etc. Seems to have worked for the NAFLD in...

    Numbers confusing me

A few years ago I had great control - always in the 6's with low carb eating. To cut a long story short I fell off the wagon. Had my hbA1c on 6th February and was shocked to see it was 64 - about 10.1 despite being on sitagliptin and pioglitazone. Came home from GP appointment a week later...

    BREAKFAST

I ate cereal for breakfast all my life and for many years for lunch as well and was stuck for breakfasts when I started going lower carb. Now I have full fat Greek Yogurt from Lidl (recommended by someone on here), mix it with some low fat yogurt to cut the fat down a bit and mix some fruit in...

    psoriasis type 1 or 2?

I'm type 2, having had impaired glucose tolerance for 8 years before being diagnosed. I've had psoriasis since childhood - no one else in my family has ever had psoriasis.

    Trying a Slimfast diet

Oh Viv please keep writing and making me laugh. I'm really struggling with depression at the moment, and having my anti depressants changed, as well as a stall in the weight loss (well gradually creeping up again). My GP says I am not in a place mentally to tackle the diet!!! That's all I...

    Flu jab

Thanks for that catherinecherub, that's the information I came here looking for. Wont be taking them up on their kind offer of a vaccination. :| Some of our GP's lied last year, telling patients there was no swine flu in it just to get people to accept the vaccination.

    Statins & GORD

I take 2 Esomeprazole daily for GORD and take atorvastin for my cholesterol. Cholesterol is very good now and I've no problems with either tablet.

    TYpe 2 and Test Strips

That may be true in the south of Ireland, but up North we don't get test strips for type 2. I was at the diabetic clinic just today and talking with the diabetic nurse she said yes they will give you test strips, just ask the doctor. Asked the doctor when I went in and she said there is no way...

Does the menopause affect blood sugar levels?

Don't know if it's just co-incidence or not. I had Impaired Glucose Tolerance for over 8 years, so had checks to test my blood sugar levels at different times over those years. It was only when I reached the menopause that I was actually diagnosed with diabetes.

    NHS saves money on T2's

Annie, I'm with you here. My bloods are now every 6 months and I don't like it either. I've worked hard to get my bloods as good as they are and I too need them sooner to keep me on the straight and narrow. Only get enough strips to do a test two or three times a week. Saw my GP yesterday...
