    DIABETES 2 WEIGHT AND INSULIN?

A struggle for sure. One thing I am looking more closely at is that in balancing all the various systems your body relies on patterns or habits. It's VERY good at working out a response to any pattern it can identify. Dieting is a pattern it can deal with. It kicks in what I call the 'crop...

    DIABETES 2 WEIGHT AND INSULIN?

You are right of course. Diabetes is a hugely complicated problem. And with so many affected / impacted systems any improvement is gradually. Form my own personal experience, and this is just me, I have researched hugely on what my actual calorie requirements are per day. And just about every...

My BGs are FINALLY coming down! So happy.

Fingers crossed. It does really get your moods in the wrong place having BG so high. 1 X boiled egg? Not much of a breakfast. Have you tried protein shakes? The stuff bodybuilders use? If you shop around you can get some high protein but low carb stuff. Make with really cold water. Cold water...

Feel like I’m banging my head against a wall!

I am not promoting in any way but I use a free app from Medivo called On Track. Allows me to keep track, look back at visible history and take notes aka Diary. I've tried a few but for Android this is best I've found.

Feel like I’m banging my head against a wall!

Ha! Yes I should have mentioned/cautioned if you DO want a drink then Vodka and a diet fizz mixer is probably best. Doesn't mean you HAVE to drink :-) I tried cutting down on the high carb food stuff but as I lack will power I my portion sizes and control gradually drifted back up. So last 6mths...

Feel like I’m banging my head against a wall!

I think key for me was realising that managing T2 is actually quite hard work BUT succeeding makes other stuff easier, I'm losing weight, moods are better, more useful energy. You don't have to be fixated and consumed by it - but it's not easy. I eat before I exercise (used to be after), I...

Feel like I’m banging my head against a wall!

Hang in there! Sadly the medical profession are genuinely under so much pressure they seem to have lost sight of the fact they are here to help us, the public! I've found self help to be more reliable for sure. I know T2 is a very personal experience but for me the key is diet. I'm an engineer...

Why does physically being sick make my blood sugars soar?

On the apple cider vinegar. It's good stuff and my personal is juice 3 fresh lemons, 8 tablespoons ACV, around a level teaspoon of fresh grated ginger root. Mix together with water up to around 1.5 litres. I drink around 250ml a day - chilled. BG seems much more stable of late.

    Blurred vision with lower carbs

I have the same problem and although I'm low carbing and exercising and keeping BG in good limits I suffer blurred vision. I wear glasses for reading - this is just blurry vision for about a week and it seems to come and go. In fact I started recording it and it's on approximately a monthly...

What am I doing wrong (keto, exercising, not losing weight)

Hi. Ok my twopence worth. Too many calories. We are all made differently with differing BMR etc. so the one size fits all calorie recommendations are not often right. Nonsense on turning fat into muscle as the difference is negligible . Losing muscle will drop your weight and it's possible to...

    Long haul travel with T2

I do a lot of travelling for work - usually more than 2 flights per week. There are ways around all this. 1) Use compressions socks - and make sure they are good ones as there are some real shoddy ones around! I of course have hypertension as well and swollen ankles takes a day or two to improve...

    Testing BG for first time

Oh yes - before I forget - if you have a smart phone try the app MyFitnessPal or similar - its great for tracking just exactly what you are eating and totalling up for the day - works for me.

    Testing BG for first time

That early morning reading is a real ****** to control - I only manage it by ensuring I do not eat after 8pm EVER. I too stick with LCHF diet as much as possible and try to test before and after most meals - its a bit of a voyage of discovery to learn what foods do and do not make a difference -...

    Pizza....the enemy!!

I am merely a Type 2 and diet controlled (OK Wife Controlled also but that's a different story) - As I am keeping to the diet control route for now and keeping my Hba1c below or at 39 I do tend to measure BG more rather than less often (It helps being in Scotland where my doctor doesn't limit...

    Unable to lose weight

Hey Stillo - sound slike you are having a tough time. But some of the posts here are right - if you dont maintain a basic calorie level your body tends to stoe what it can when it can and it can be counter productive. Also if you are exercising as you say (or at least have some significant...

Hello there! Sadly just joining the forums as new diagnosis

Re: Hello there! Sadly just joining the forums as new diagno Wow - yes - its the side effect of the drugs and the preipheral effects o f diabetes really that make up the whole package I suppose. I suspect that being diabetic from such an early age must have been very difficult - at least mine...

Re: Hello there! Sadly just joining the forums as new diagno Daisy - thanks for the welcome and initial advice. Appreciated. I shall be reading everything that I can find - I do tend to go a bit overboard on information acquisition - ! My downfall has always been white bread and whatever could...

Hello there! Sadly just joining the forums as new diagnosis

Hi Folks, Robin here. Well i suppose having reached 53 and overeaten, overstressed and generally abused the traditional stereotype of 'good health' it is not a surprise that i have now been diagnosed as diabetic. :( Started just before Xmas with frequent urination, dry mouth and a general...
