    Type 1 Diabetic

I usually have 1 long acting insulin in the morning of 15 units. Then usually 3 more through the day of fast acting. My ratios are 5 morning, 10 lunchtime and 12 evening. So if I have 30 carbs at breakfast I have 6 units of insulin, if I have 30 carbs at lunchtime I have 3 units insulin. 30...

    Apple Cider Vinegar

I have organic apple cider vinegar with mother as often as I can, often in a dressing on salads. I have been following the Glucose Goddess on Facebook and she recommends it. Anyone else follow her?

Any Type 3C people out there?

Hi Steve. Thanks for your reply. Yes it was all a bit of a shock to the system getting that diagnosis. Having no pancreas means that I don't produce insulin or glucagon, I think that's why my blood glucose are on a bit of a roller coaster. I do use the Carbs & Cals book and app and count the...

Any Type 3C people out there?

I am type 3C. I had a Neuroendocrine pancreatic tumour (PNET) found by chance after a scan. Huge shock! I had surgery at Kings, London in April 2022 when my whole pancreas, spleen, duodenum and gall bladder were removed. I am now on insulin, Creon (pancreatic enzymes) and daily antibiotics due...

Anyone using a separate phone for their Libre?

My Moto G7 Play mobile isn't compatable as has no NFC. I was given a NUU A5X from my diabetic team to use. Looks like a mobile phone but is just used to monitor the Libre 2 sensor. Works great. Only trouble is I have to carry mobile phone AND the monitor now.

    Severe Hypo Prevention

Thanks for your reply. I think it's crazy that the BG monitor doesn't talk to the pump. So without the BG monitor do you have to go back to finger pricking?

    Hacks to reduce energy costs

I boil a kettle in the morning and put rest of water into a thermos flask to use later. I have ordered a Ninja 15-1 air fryer. It has 15 functions and uses a lot less electric than using the oven, also cooks a lot quicker. Can also batch cook and freeze half for another day. Ninja arrives today...

    Severe Hypo Prevention

Hi Charles. What pump do you use please and do you use the Libre 2 as well as the pump? Does the pump alone give you low/high alarms? Im a new diabetic (5 months due to pancreas removal) and use the Libre 2. Hope to get some sort of insulin pump soon..... I think it will be the Omnipod.

Case to fit the NUU blood glucose monitor?

Ah shame they won't fit :( They look perfect. I dont always have a pocket so the lanyard would be good too. Yes I saw your post. What a shame :( Mine is the NUU A5X too.

Case to fit the NUU blood glucose monitor?

Unfortunately my mobile (Motorola G7 Play) is not compatible with the Freestyle Libre 2 blood glucose monitor so I have to carry the NUU monitor with me at all times. Does anyone know of a protective type case to fit please or any useful accessories?

Diabetic after total pancreatectomy/splenectomy 1 month ago

I dont have the DAFNE course in my area but there is one called SADIE. I hope to muster up enough energy to start that soon to learn all about carb counting. I will then contact my diabetic team to ask when I can start altering my insulin acording to the carbs being eaten. The worst time for...
