    Type 1 Libre sensor

I’m new to wearing a sensor. On my third sensor. The first 2 I wore on my left arm, to let healing/removing sticky stuff I’ve put the 3rd sensor for the first time on my right arm. I’m not getting on nearly as well! I was woken up with alarm to say I 3.3 in night, I have good hypo awareness...

Type 1 Having actimol ., good or bad for diabetics with type 1

The dietitian I saw at diabetic team advised me to take them but that was more because of other conditions I rate tablets daily.

    Type 1 Type 1 - slow digestion

I was diagnosed last August. I’m doing okay but I’ve noticed that when doing my bloods 2 hours after eating they are good and where I’d expect, however by bedtime they’ve shot up, often to low teens. Since I’ve noticed this pattern I’ve been doing my bloods a lot more and this is a regular...

    Too high reading

Once you’ve gone so high your more insulin resistant . I find the the correction dose of 1 unit to bring down 3 doesn’t work for me and I need more insulin that I’ve worked out. When did you take the 12 units? Do you exercise? Going for a run brings my levels down.

    faulty insulin?

I was struggling the other week to get my bloods in a normal range, I usually have good control. I wasn’t sure if it was because I was due my period. Someone on here suggested throwing away both my pens and starting again. They were both near the end so I did. Which seemed to help. We were...

    Frustrated/rant

Thank you! I’ve got carb counting quite quickly and I have the same thing for breakfast and lunch everyday so it’s my evening meals that’s the curve ball but I have a young family and we tend to eat the same things each week. I’ve learnt that complex carbs and bread aren’t great for me so I...

    Frustrated/rant

Thank you for your lovely answer! I think the pandemic has definitely impacted on the care I’ve received, when first diagnosed I had a number of appointments and then nothing for months. I was so relieved to finally speak to someone that I then just felt so let down that all the majority of...

    Frustrated/rant

Yes I’ve had my HbA1c done at my GP’s surgery in January and that was 47mmol. I am planning on going for other tests tomorrow morning, including fasting blood test. I take my long lasting in the morning I’m guessing I don’t take this before my blood tests?

    Type 1 Fasting blood test

I have been asked to have a fasting blood test at the hospital, was told not to eat for 8 hours before..... However what about taking insulin? I take my long lasting in the morning.

    What do you miss most?

I too miss just walking out the door and not having to remember to restock my hypo stash as kids have eaten them again! And not a particular food just that feeling of eating without thinking about it... that reaction of ‘I fancy that...’ and eat. That can’t happen anymore. And I understand...

    Unexplained high levels

I am able to eat weetabix but I couldn’t eat what you had for lunch, bread causes me to have massive spikes even if I give the correct insulin ratio. I avoid bread.

    Frustrated/rant

I posted a while ago about not having any contact with diabetic team in 6 months and only diagnosed 8 months ago. I had a phone conversation with consultant that went okay, he queried whether I was type 1 which I found worrying as shouldn’t this have been looked into months ago??? Anyway he...

Waking up and bloods in the teens

I’m on Toujou and novorapid. Neither seem to be working! But both are near end of cartridge so I might just throw away and start again! And hope it helps. Just done bloods and still in low teens and that’s after giving a correction dose!

Waking up and bloods in the teens

Yesterday I woke up and my bloods were 14, I thought this was because I’d forgotten to take my long lasting but this morning I’ve woken up to similar high range. I am due for my period so guessing I need a few more units of my long lasting to see me through the night? My consultant did mention...

    Insulin intake

I thought I took quite a lot! Which was why I was surprised when he said! When I was first diagnosed I needed an awful lot less but I guess that’s because my body was still producing some insulin.

    A very silly question

My youngest son played with my pens early in my diagnosis and I freaked when he twirled it all to the end!!!

    Insulin intake

I was diagnosed type 1 in August. I had a phone consultation today and was asked what my average fast insulin intake was per day - it’s 20/25 units. I was told this isn’t a lot off insulin so just wondered what other people need on average day?

    Peak 4 hours after meal/insulin

I’m newly diagnosed type one and I get this. 2 hrs after I’ve eaten my bloods are where I’d expect them to be between 5-7, by the time I go to bed they are often up 13. I haven’t had an appointment with anyone to discuss this with but I’m presuming this is because I digest my food very slowly...
