    Type 1: Prescription fine

I find this all really disturbing, I can absolutely see both sides of the ongoing argument but as a T1 I really do feel that this fine Is very harsh. Surely some form of warning could've been sent to advise that there wasnt a valid exemption card in place, if this was ignored and another...

    Low/No carbs

I know there was a dafne course 3 months ago but I didn't get a place as I was pregnant so was advised to wait until baby was here. I'll call the clinic tomorrow and enquire about it :)

    Low/No carbs

I don't currently do carb counting Robert, my insulin is just a set dose at meal times hence why I'll be working on a trial and error basis. My DSN is far from a great support so Internet research and this app is my main support function

    Low/No carbs

Thanks jack412 and DeejayR :) I know there are various low carb diets like Atkins and there's also a slimming world version on the market. It's just not the same as first hand advise from a fellow diabetic who's gone through the same thing so I really appreciate the replies

    Low/No carbs

Thank you Daibell :) do you give yourself an allowance of carbs to have per day? I'm mostly doing this on my own so it will be trial and error with my insulin amounts ect as my DSN is rather unsupportive

    Low/No carbs

I'm a 25 year old type 1 diabetic of 7 years. My DN has never advised me much on low/no carbs and after recently having a baby I'd really like to give it a go, not only to keep my hba1c within range but also to help with maintaining a healthy weight. I know what carb free means and that the...

What are some of the best ways to tell people you're diabetic?

I have been T1 for 6 years and I was exactly the same until very recently. Only my immediate family and a few close friends knew I was T1 and it was mainly due to needing to make them aware of what to do if I was hypo that I told them about diabetes. I was constantly going to the bathroom to...

Loss of tissue round of injection sites?

Normally with these types of lumps they eventually break down over a period of time when the area is no longer used for injections. If I was you I'd rub the surrounding area with either a massage oil or moisturising body butter just to get the blood flow circulating. Hopefully that'll speed the...

    Tattoos

I've been diabetic 6 years and have got a few tattoos over that period of time. Being diabetic doesn't mean you cannot get a tattoo, it just may take slightly longer for your skin to heal but all you need to do is have good control and keep an eye out for any parts that start to look infected :)
