    Insulin range

Well 10 units doesn't sound a lot to me, having overheard others in my first clinic (in Feb) talking about taking 35 units three times per day for meals plus a Basal for overnight! Sometime we worry when we don't know the spread of "normal" results. I had one test that should be about 14...

    Insulin range

It will be hard for anyone to comment without an idea of what you started on and what it has changed to. As a Type1, I started twice daily with 12u of novomix30... since then I have been reduced twice firstly to 2x10u ; now on 1@9u + 1@8u daily. I think it depends on how you are coping and also...

    Un Pasteurised Milk

I know of a couple of places here in Norfolk that sell and indeed parcel post both RAW milk (as it is usually termed) and one them also makes a Brie Style cheese from this product. I love the stuff as its like what we used to get as well as being un-pasteurised the cream is also not Homogenised...

    Banning snacking on public transport....

First perhaps they should ban junk food advertising on public transport and lower the demand! In terms of getting dirty looks etc, why can't people simply ask, educating more people can only help. And I would be happy to man one of the sniper towers.......

    Hospital update

Wow sounds like you have had a bad time of it! How long since you were first DX'd? I assume you have control over your own insulin even whilst in Hospital? In that case why not just handle all the Diabetes care yourself whilst the docs handle the other things, assuming you had it under control...

    Novomix 30

Mathematically given that 30% is fast acting your would need 14u to give 4u of rapid and 10u of background if you multiply this up for each meal (assuming 3) you would daily take 12u rapid and 30u background per day from a total of 42u. This MIGHT help you work out what you need, but I would...

Blood readings elevated after hospital stay

my two separate weeks in hospital both demonstrated the lack of a LCHF alternative on food, and also elevated sugars due to lack of "exercise" and by this I mean any normal amount of movement; if you don't use the sugars up (fuel!) then it just stays there and raises the level.

Newly diagnosed with type 1 [emoji20]

As a similar newly diagnosed I totally agree with all the points made before, and would add a couple of (hopefully) relevant points of my own. 1. Don't expect perfect results, just watch the trend and it will keep moving hopefully downwards! 2. Don't forget to enjoy yourself, its not THAT...

    Type 2 Diabetic or not?

My point here is that I would not presume to "advise" if I was not correctly qualified. I was hoping that someone would come up and explain what the current level of GP training is. Given the level and scale of this medical issue should more training be provided?

    Type 2 Diabetic or not?

So is this really the level of training on Diabetes given to GP's ? I saw a report that 10% of the NHS budget is diabetes related treatment, if 10% of my money was going somewhere I would take a GREAT interest in it being spent wisely!

Diagnosed today type 1, scared and could use some advice.

My local book shop had it on the shelf (Watersons) so I picked it up on the day of release from Hospital. Didn't have to wait for delivery! for Breakfast I recommend Eggs & Bacon, definitely the way to start the day in a good mood!
