Is it possible to get 40 to 50 grams protein from a plant based diet?

Pulsin pea protein powder can be added to soups, porridge or shakes. I've seen in a few diff health food stores or you could prob buy online?

    Cambridge 121 from my gp

@Resurgam - original 1:1 , they call it TDR now (total diet replacement) is 150 cals per sachet and around 20 g carbs. Standard sachets are 200 cals (apparently an EU thing?) and higher carbs consequently. As a T2 they won't let me do TDR and saying the glucose spikes are normal. :((( Anyway...

    Cambridge 121 from my gp

@Guna108 - Well done and hope your weight loss continues until your satisfied with it. 1:1 uses your BMI and won't accept newbies on their lowest steps (lowest cal restriction) if their BMI is in the 'normal' range. However they could accept you on the higher steps so could show you recipes and...

    Feeling a bit overwhelmed

Firstly big hug! It's a shock to many of us but hopefully you'll get to grips with it v soon. Kudos to your surgery for saying cut the carbs - many are still using the 'Eatwell' message which isn't right for T2D. Have a read round the forum and hopefully a mod will come by soon to point you at...

    Cambridge 121 from my gp

Hi. I've been doing Cambridge for about 6 weeks now. Last hba1c before started was 38. I find it very carby, it's about 30g per sachet but because it's 'instant' food that you add water to, I absorb the carbs very quickly. My bg goes up +4 mmol within ~1 hr but I fortunately come down to only...

    Newly diagnosed, scared and confused

@Kimble73 I would be careful with regarding the apple. I tried that after my 2nd Xpert class on advice from the DSN taking the class. Bg before apple was about 6.5. After the apple (no other foods eaten) bg went up to 12 2 hours later. I've not eaten an apple since! If I'd eaten it after some...

    What is a thread?

@Gmt2 Sorry you're finding this site hard to navigate. I'm using this site using an ios (apple) application (app). In some ways it's easy but there is some functionality loss compared with using the website version. Are you using an ipad and app? If you're not used to web jargon, perhaps...

    Help?

The body converts excess glucose in the blood to fat using insulin. Perhaps if you eased off the carbs, you could reduce your insulin input, and you could start metabolising fat? But if your BMI and weight are OK, then trying to lose weight might not be useful to you? In all cases please...

Ketogenic eating and [lack of] body odour?

I notice increase BO strong smell during or after emergency incidents - I think the adrenalin ramped up insulin? Lots of people were ravenous for carbs too, and after protracted incidence response, several had to go on a diet after going back to their day jobs. So I think adrenalin increased...

Oh help... jus starting out ...

Sorry about your wife's discomfort. I've loved psyllium husk in my keto porridge. Or she could try inulin soluble fibre? Some kind of fibre should be available in your local health food store to add to her food? Good luck.

    Another newly diagnosed with questions.....

Some people have got pain as nerves regenerate. So this might be that, but agree with @ert that you should get it checked out. You might peek the interest of your diabetic GP too with your successes? Well done.

MY DIABETIC REVIEW AND THEIR OPINIONS VS YOURS.

Amen! Didn't want to suggest such in case you didn't find it appropriate. Still painful, I guess it always will be.

MY DIABETIC REVIEW AND THEIR OPINIONS VS YOURS.

Great goal, hope you achieve it. You've asked how I did it. I followed LC high protein/fat diet with typically 75 - 100 g carb per day - from veg and almond/coconut/psyllium husk/milled flaxseed porridge. Lost 10 kg in 6 months and improved my insulin resistance. Used a glucometer - free with...

    New member, Hi Guys...

@Dede2fun You're welcome. I chose to start it at the weekend when I was staying close to home in case I needed to visit the smallest room in the house in a hurry etc. Hopefully you'll be one of the majority with more benefit than disadvantages with it. As said above it's a mild drug and won't...

MY DIABETIC REVIEW AND THEIR OPINIONS VS YOURS.

I forgot to say in my earlier reply that I got a handy book from the Xpert website about LCHF diet. So if need be, I'll wave that in front of my DSN if they argue against it. But my surgery don't say anything now that I went from hba1c of 54 on dx, to 42 at 3 months and 38 at 6 months.

MY DIABETIC REVIEW AND THEIR OPINIONS VS YOURS.

@Q007 I'm very sorry for your loss. I think a similar loss of my nephew a few years ago tipped me over to T2 - a lot of ready meals and trans fats - not a good combo. Big hug! @JoKalsbeek Your explanation is helpful to me too. Thanks

I just had a phone call...

@Stephen Lewis Perhaps you could write to the Assoc Prof Endo and offer to help him, given he couldn't help you? @Chook Amazing stuff! Well done

    New member, Hi Guys...

Hi @Dede2fun and welcome re metformin, there are several on here who didn't get on with it and control their T2 through diet. The majority of those who have taken it have no or mild side effects where the benefit outways the cons. Personally I was v wary before starting it due to posts on this...
