I also take blood pressure tablets (along with many others) and have been told that I should still add a little salt daily to keep from going too low. I think for me that was good advise as I'm also following the low carb diet and my blood pressure has not suffered from it, I do have a blood...

Im Aishia diagnosed with Type 2 about 10 years ago. It was 75 then. Been upd down o er the years. It is really hard work sometimes to get it down to

Hi Aishia, Welcome to the forums :) I've been diagnosed a similar time to you and I've had my doctors insist on medication, in fact they did try me on metforming but I'm allergic to it so they have me on something else (look below my post), I can never remember the name. I only found this...

    Needle in the lancet

I also use a Accu Chek Fast Clix as I really don't like handling the normal lancets ( I hate needles) so only change mine when it gets blunt i.e. hurts or if I'm testing someone else, then I change it before I test them and straight after I test them. Not a good idea to share needle of any kind ;)

Hi again krishk, I am really pleased to hear that you are now feeling more positive and not dejected now :) Yes this forum and the people here are a great support and we all need support don't we, no one gets the diagnosis of Diabetes of any kind and feels positive straight away, we all have...

Hi jaffafa, Welcome to the forums. :) Some good advice from lovinglife and I can only add the full fat Greek Yoghurt, full fat cream cheese and butter is also ok. A lot of us on the low carb diet have Cauliflower Rice instead of rice and it actually tastes good but means you can still have...

Newly Diagnosed - trying to process the news

I also personally don't think you need to change meters krishk, yes meters do often give slightly different readings as do different fingers when you test But it will still give you a good idea of what spikes you when eating as Debandez has said. Test just before eating and then 2 hours after...

    Venting: diabetes education session

I'm wondering if this meeting was run by my DN and Doctor as this all sounds so familiar and what they keep telling me... Well done you for sticking it out, not sure I would have. Congratulations on the weight loss and lower BS (clapping) :)

    Lack of consistency

Hi lakesider52, Firstly welcome to the forums. Your post makes total sense to me but our local health authorities don't provide and blood testing meter to T2D any more at all, we have to fund our own meters and strips, even pensioners don't get them any more. :(

    Venting: diabetes education session

The flippin cheek of them don't they realise stress will make things worse for you? Mine tried to bully me into one of those courses and I told them I would need a taxi to get there and space for my husband (my carer) as I am mostly a wheelchair user, and that could they organise that for me...

Hi C19James, Welcome to the forums. I also have type 2 but and am a tad disabled so don't have much mobility either, b**** isn't it. Sorry to hear you have long covid now as well and do hope it does sort itself out for you soon. I have no experience with covid but know a few people here have...

    Scared of high BS resultstoday

"Olives: 3 grams of net carbs, 3 grams of fiber, 6 grams of total carbs" this is from the dietdoctor.com https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/vegetables As you see they are low carb but maybe having a large tub full wouldn't be helpful to you, we're all different and each of us can tolerate...

Hi Daizee, Welcome to the forums :) Yes I agree with the others above, get a BG meter then test just before you eat the 2 hours after the first bite. This will tell you what spikes you and what doesn't. I decided to go Low Carb and it has really helped me by lowering by BG levels and losing...

    General

Hi C E A, Welcome to the forums. I'm type 2 so can't really be of much help except to say there are lots of type 1's here that I'm sure will be along soon to offer advice. Have a read around the forums and I think you may find your motivation is lurking rather than lacking. After all you made...
