    HbA1c results in!

Just seen the Practice Nurse and my result has come in at 32 which I am delighted with. I attribute this to my LCHF lifestyle. Unfortunately she says my Total Cholesterol is 5.2 and wants to see me again in 8 weeks. How can I get it down in 8 weeks?

    Clinic

The best thing to do would be to see a nurse and arrange a blood test. That should get the wheels rolling.

Here is a meta analysis of 72 studies showing the link between fat and heart disease is unproven. http://www.nhs.uk/news/2014/03march/pages/saturated-fats-and-heart-disease-link-unproven.aspx

    Cut out carbs for good?

I have to confess I'm not a fan of the ND or dieting in general. The ND lacks long term data although it cannot be denied it has had some success. In contrast I see long term benefit and tightly controlled blood sugars with people who adopt a low carb high fat approach for life. Beta cell...

I was under the impression that as I was on the diabetic register I was entitled to one test per annum.

    Cut out carbs for good?

Yes, there is a clear correlation between carb consumption and activity. Professional athletes load up on carbs for energy. There is also a strong school of thought about level of beta cell damage in the pancreas correlating with the bodies ability to process the carbs. I believe there is...

    Still chilling.

Well done - that's great stuff mate. I'm a firm believer in our ability to reverse diabetes. But if you believe in reversal then it works both ways! I can eat high carb and too much occasionally but if I do it consistently my readings creep up - but not too high. I think BG levels creeps...

    menus

Thanks @Brunneria I had a hypothesis along them lines tbh. I did wonder why I could eat chocolate etc and carbs and it had little effect (within reason) and another person on here - who is very fit - really struggled. We are both slim and work out. My hypothesis is that I have less damaged...

Should I still eat even if I don't feel hungry? Newbie!

I once watched a documentary about gastro surgery and the Consultant who's name I can't recall said being hungry is a natural state for us mammals with some animals going days without food. Of course I'm not suggesting that. But the point he made was that we don't have to respond to hunger...

    Diabetic Nurse Appointment :(

It's not really her fault, she is only doing what she has been trained to do. It's going to take a good few years before the nurses get up to speed with all the new research. Follow the advice on the forum and get your readings down. They tend to listen a bit more then [emoji6]

1 Ritz biscuit is 2g of carb. 2 or 3 with lots of soft cheese on makes a great snack for low carbers.
