Just checking in.
It’s going well.
Really well.
I decided to work a lot less, and get some practice in for retirement.
I've got 3 dive trips in so far this year, and another one planned this week.
No photos I’m afraid, as I am pushing the recreational diving, so haven’t got the hands free for the camera.
At least once a month is on the cards, although I’m trying for more.
I was off to a beer festival today, offset by a 4 mile walk before breakfast, then a couple of miles there and back.
Another one, (beer festival) and a dive trip, early next month. I can’t decide if getting wet, or real ale appeals more, so I’ll combine them. But in that order, obviously!
I’ve checked my BG occasionally, but not a lot.
It’s very predictable, and the Newcastle diet seems to have been the turning point.
I’m not sure if I’m entirely reversed, if I sit around my BG creeps up after food.
But then, nothing too high, so it’s all good.
I’m still low GI, and LF though, so maybe the odd box of donuts would be bad still.
Then again, If I exercise, the beer, the food, seems to have no bad affect, I can eat what I want, (or what’s available), drink what I want, and stay in the ‘normal’ range.
So long as I put in the work.
I’ve found for me, moderation is the key, too much food, the fasting BG slowly creeps up, and a few too many pounds go on, but cut back on the food, the fasting, and the weight, goes down very nicely. So control is very easy, with no fuss over what I eat.
Doing that, weight hasn't come back on, common sense, and the ability to simply have self-control means a set of scales, and the mirror replaces the old calorie counting. That and ingrained habit!
I've noticed a fair few doing the Newcastle Diet, with similar good results, recently, so, if you have the determination, and can stick at it, it’s definitely worth it as the first line of attack for T2, if you were like me.
That, and exercise 100ft down in my case!
I'll check back in in a few more months, after a summer diving holiday somewhere nice and warm hopefully.
