    High reading in the morning?

Your liver is doing it's job by dumping glucose into your blood to give you more energy in the morning. Many people who get this early morning 'dump' try a light carb snack just before going to bed as this can 'trick' the liver and avoid the dump. I have been on low carb for six months and I...

Thank You. Reversed Type 2 in Two Months

That is fantastic. Very well done. A word of advice though. I would ask for another test in three months. A year is far too long to wait.

    NHS Dietitian Contradicting Himself

I suppose we are 'cheating' all these poor NHS dieticians out of their jobs I suppose we are cheating these poor NHS dieticians out of their work. If all you have to do to beat T2 is cut out carbs, who needs them?

    STOP EATING CHICKEN ?

Maybe they are concerned about a diabetic epidemic in the human population in Bali, spread by diabetic chickens.

    Weight

I don't count carbs, but then again I never eat bread, flour, pasta, rice, fruit, starchy veg and I eat little veg that is grown underground. I suspect I am eating circa 30-35g of carbs a day as you can't avoid them completely. I lost 32 lb in three months. I now adjust my weight by...

    Non diabetic Hba1c [emoji3]

Well done you. That is a fantastic effort. I got my HBa1c down to 42 in three months, but I started from a reading of 53 not 91, so it just shows that putting the effort in works even when you start with a very high BG level. I wish you had been with me last week when I attended a session for...

    NHS Dietitian Contradicting Himself

When I told a dietician that my HBa1c had fallen from 53 to 42 in three months she said that it wasn't the low carbohydrate diet that had done that, it was the fact that I had lost so much weight. Presumably, she thinks its okay to eat a high sugar diet so long as we lose weight. I suspect...

    Drinking on the (Diabetic) Job

I appreciate that your comment is tongue in cheek, but I can quite see how a few drinks could improve the morning dump. If your liver is going flat out trying to cope with all that poisonous alcohol it has precious little time to produce glucose to get you going in the morning. There is a...

Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes session

Every health professional I have seen has told me it's a progressive disease and that whatever I do it will get worse. All I can hope to do is to delay the inevitable. I'm sure they are right. If I live long enough my pancreas will age just like the rest of me and sooner or later it will...

Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes session

oo tired off fighting against the dogma. I still think the daftest thing I heard was the nurse's statement that she isn't diabetic. How does she know? Because she doesn't have the symptoms, she replied. I didn't say so, but I bet she knows because she tests herself, a luxury that her...

Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes session

I really did have to bite my lip and shut up. I did have the opportunity to talk to a number of the attendees during the morning and several took this forum address away with them. We have to understand that these healthcare professionals are obliged to spout the standard NICE doctrine. The...

Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes session

They did acknowledge that there is new research like the Newcastle Diet, but the jury is out and the NHS advice is based on , proven scientific research.

Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes session

I went to my local village hall today to experience the Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes session. There were about 20 of us. We were treated to a three and a half hour lecture on the NHS guidelines for the management of T2. The dietician explained that we should include between 100 and150 gms of...

SD Codefree meter- accurate or not

Thanks for your replies. Maybe the people who complain the SD reads high really do have high readings;)

SD Codefree meter- accurate or not

Since I was diagnosed with T2 last November I've tested my BG with the SD Codefree meter. The test strips are £7.25 for 50; far less than any other make I have seen advertised, but a lot of users complain that the SD is inaccurate and reads up to 1 mmol higher than it should. I have read on...

    Lowered My Hb1ac Readings

It puzzles me how one person diagnosed with very high BS levels is placed on medication immediately whereas another with the same high reading will be told to diet and exercise. I was diagnosed with an HBa1c of 53 and was told to diet and exercise. I ignored NHS advice and followed the low...

Is a spike of 12.5 for a short period ok?

I'm not an expert and I'm sure others will be able to give better guidance, but my BG would spike like that if I ate 50g of carbs at a single sitting. I aim to keep my carbs under 30g a day. We are all different of course.
